Reaction as Hibs beat Ayr to reach Scottish Cup quarter-finals
Transcript
00:00Well, we had to wait, and wait, and then wait some more before Hibs finally saw off their
00:25United here at Somerset Park. 1-0 with a late, late goal from who else but Rocky Bishouri.
00:36The man seems intent on writing his name large all over this season. From his injury time
00:45equaliser against Aberdeen that kick-started the turnaround in the whole campaign to scoring
00:52what proved to be the only goal for this game, absolutely vital. Just throwing himself in.
00:59This was not by any means the most polished performance by Hibs at times in the second
01:06half. It looked as if they would be sleepwalking into a Scottish Cup exit. At the hands of
01:11our United, we were organised, effective, never super threatening, but always had a
01:20chance. Even at 1-0 down, they had chances to get equalisers, they were throwing bodies
01:24in there. I think bringing on Kieran Bowie probably made a big difference to Hibs. He
01:30is such a big target. That's nothing to do with his physicality, that's to do with his
01:36technique. When the ball gets played up to him, it sticks. Doesn't matter if it's head
01:40high, chest high, knee high, bouncing, whatever it is, he makes it stick. They played well
01:47enough when they needed to play it. They got the goal, they got the result. If they
01:51go on, as David Gray and all the players talk about every year, there should be an ambition
01:56to go and try and win the Cup. If they were to go on and reach the final or the semi-final,
02:00nobody's going to remember this game.
