After inspecting the newly implemented MyBorderPass QR code system at KL International Airport on Saturday (Jan 11), Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail told the media that there was already an average of about 10,000 people using the system daily since Jan 1 at immigration checkpoints at Terminals 1 and 2 of KLIA.
He said the response had been overwhelming with some 400,000 Malaysian users already downloaded the MyBorderPass app on their mobile phones.

00:00The first thing we do, other than the manual counter, is the autogate counter.
00:11And when we open the autogate to 63 travellers from 63 countries.
00:17Travellers from 63 countries.
00:20Because if the travellers only depend on the manual counter, it will contribute to the loss.
00:27But when we do the original autogate initiative,
00:32we open it to travellers from 63 countries,
00:36it will give relief to the foreign travellers,
00:40but the frustration will come from the Malaysians.
00:43We have lost our speciality, we have to depend on the manual counter.
00:48That's one of the reasons.
00:50For immigration, they run a few POC, Proof of Concept.
00:57The media that followed, me and TPM Fadillah,
01:02launched the first one at BSI and KESAP in Johor.
01:06So based on that experience,
01:10then we come up with another new initiative,
01:16which is the autogate installation,
01:19which is based on the KR Code.
01:23The principle is that our people must first download this application.
01:29Now, since we started,
01:34the Malaysians have downloaded it.
01:37In total, almost 400,000 users.
01:41In this period, 400,000 have downloaded like me.
01:45Then we are given four login numbers.
01:48Like me, when I log in like this,
01:51I log in like this,
01:56then I get a barcode,
01:58and it is correct for me to pass the counter in 60 seconds.
02:02Just now, 60 seconds.
02:04But I took the time just now,
02:06I timed only 4 seconds,
02:08for the gate to open, I entered,
02:10then the gate opened, I left.
02:124 seconds.
02:13This is really a game changer.
02:16So how many people have accepted this initiative?
02:19The Malaysians, 400,000.
02:21What is the average daily usage now?
02:25For Mazan BSI now,
02:27the average is more than 10,000.
02:29We started on January 1.
02:31Today is the 11th month.
02:33Now the average is 10,000 and the trend continues to increase.
02:36And I invite the Malaysians who use this facility,
02:42to feel for themselves and give comments,
02:45give reviews.
02:46It is important to give us feedback.
02:48We installed as many as 40 units.
02:5020 in KLIA 1,
02:5320 in KLIA 2.
02:55Departures and also arrivals.
02:57How much was spent?
02:5919.2 million.
03:01Okay, in the process that we have completed.
03:05Okay.
03:06Do travelers need to bring passports?
03:08Passports must be there.
03:10Do we need to stamp? No.
03:12Because this initiative is enough to store all the information.
03:16And this is not at all a compromise in terms of safety.
03:20The average daily usage is about 10,000.
03:24We have X numbers.
03:26We have monitored about 55,000 since January 1.
03:29But what relieves me is that the number has dropped to 400,000.
