00:00The Metro Manila Development Authority, or MMDA, is carrying out clearing operations in the areas where the whole of Jesus Nazareno's procession passed by, and that's tomorrow.
00:10Joining us now is Gabriel Go, Chief of MMDA Special Operations Group Strike Force. Good morning.
00:18Good morning, Egan, and of course, to everyone who is watching us this morning.
00:22How are the clearing operations going so that the procession will start properly tomorrow?
00:29Well, we started early. Actually, just last week, we started midweek, as early as Wednesday, Thursday.
00:37We started with warnings to our countrymen here in the routes where the procession passed by.
00:44And starting on Saturday, we started with warning to the vehicles that are in the routes that will pass by.
00:53And as of today, as of this moment, our clearing operations are still ongoing, not just in the main route of the procession,
01:02but also in the alternative routes that we are preparing for our motorists who will pass by,
01:09or who will pass by other routes to avoid traffic in our upcoming translation.
01:16How many vehicles have you seen, or have their vehicles been towed or sold?
01:21Well, we're counting almost 100 vehicles that we have towed since Saturday.
01:28Actually, since Monday, we're counting almost 100.
01:32We've already issued more than 200 tickets here in the routes that are being translated.
01:38And of course, as I said, even in the alternative routes, trucks and private vehicles are passing by.
01:45And as regards to vendors or illegal structures,
01:49it's good because we're not just doing our clearing operations during events.
01:58We've been doing this for quite some time already.
02:00So, there are almost no vendors.
02:03We've only seen a few and we've already constructed obstructions.
02:08What do you bring to the vehicles, Mr. Go?
02:11Well, all the vehicles that have been towed are illegal parking unattended.
02:15All of these are being impounded in our impounding area here in Tumana, Marikina.
02:20And what about the vendors? Do you take them or do you let them return to the vendors?
02:27Well, as much as possible, the vendors have a purpose.
02:31So we understand where our countrymen are coming from.
02:34So as much as possible, we don't confiscate the vendors.
02:38We only take the planks, tables, and carretons.
02:43The reason for this is so they cannot return to the places where they are selling illegally.
02:48Okay. Let's discuss your monitoring of the Carino Grandstand.
02:53MMDA is also leading there.
02:55We're just going to talk to you now, Mr. Go.
02:58We've been monitoring for a few days now.
03:02We have been preparing for our crowd safety issues.
03:06So our preparation is good.
03:08Our mobile command center is monitoring all routes and even the nearby areas.
03:15And aside from monitoring, we have also deployed our road emergency and our emergency personnel
03:22just in case of emergency situations during the day itself.
03:28And aside from that, we have our key personnel, our traffic enforcers,
03:33whose responsibility is not only to manage the traffic,
03:37but to ensure that the traffic is well-traveled, the road is well-paved,
03:43and that there are no untoward incidents.
03:47Thank you very much, MMDA Special Operations Strike Force Chief Gabiel Go.
03:51Be careful.
03:52Thank you very much. Good morning, Igan.
