00:00The impact of the inflation rate in December of the past year was mixed.

00:04There were rising prices for the first to buy

00:08and there were also prices going down like for rice.

00:11This is Noel Talacan's story.

00:15In the Qmart public market,

00:17the cheapest rice can be bought here is still 40 pesos per kilo.

00:22According to rice sellers,

00:24the price of some imported and commercial rice is also going down.

00:29For imported rice, the price didn't go up.

00:32It went down last week and it's still the same.

00:35The price of eggs in the market also went down to 10 pesos per tray.

00:41According to the Philippine Statistical Authority or PSA,

00:44some of the first to buy prices went down

00:49despite the fast inflation rate of the country this month of December.

00:55The inflation rate of December 2024 is 2.9%

00:59while 2.5% in the month of November 2024.

01:04But if we compare it to the year-to-year inflation rate,

01:09the inflation rate of December 2024 is slower

01:13compared to December 2023 which is 3.9%.

01:18There are four sectors that have a big impact

01:22on increasing the inflation rate of December 2024.

01:26Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other gas

01:31are the biggest factors in increasing the inflation rate

01:35which is 52.9% of the total inflation rate.

01:40Food and non-alcoholic beverages

01:43also have a big impact with a 44.3% share.

01:49Although the sectors of restaurants, accommodation, and transportation

01:55have a small contribution to the total inflation,

01:59according to the PSA, the mass transit of various types of transportation also increased.

02:06We usually see that the price goes up in the summer

02:11because of the holidays, going home, and it's really December.

02:15The effect of the inflation rate in December 2024 in the country is mixed.

02:22If there are prices going up, there are also prices going down like rice.

02:27But in the QMARC public market, the price of pork has gone up.

02:33The price has gone up even more.

02:35The price of tomatoes also went up.

02:37Our salary is just right.

02:42Tomatoes are needed for stir-frying, to make it more delicious.

02:47Just a few tomatoes and one potato.

02:50But there are some vegetables whose prices have gone down.

02:53Cabbage, beans, pechay baguio, chayote, cucumber.

03:03That's the only thing I know that's cheap.

03:06The PSA admitted that the inflation rate in December 2024 has gone up.

03:13But they can't deny that the price of rice that can continue this year has gone up.
