00:00after five years or seven years or ten years. So right now what we are looking at
00:04will all be in the future.
00:05Especially when it comes to the Johor SCZ, what your vision is or what your
00:11expectations are of the RTS coming in and how do you think that's going to transform
00:14basically the SCZ and the region down there?
00:18Well, for us at the Ministry of Transport, we have to ensure that the completion of the project is scheduled.
00:28The system of course has to be catered to the easing of movement.
00:32So one of the things that is an important feature in RTS is the co-location of CIQ.
00:38So that is of course very key to ensure that the clearance of the CIQ must be faster, must be very efficient.
00:45Of course Home Ministry is undertaking in terms of using QR code,
00:51potentially easier in terms of movement of people crossing the border.
00:56We have to ensure in terms of the supporting system in Johor Bahru, as mentioned earlier.
01:02And I think of course, as far as the Ministry of Transport and the agencies under it,
01:09for example in Bukit Cagar, the station is under MRT Corp.
01:16So we are also looking at developing the piece of land into a major TOD in central Johor Bahru.
01:24So that will be of course a catalyst for more development.
01:28Because that is really the prime land.
01:31So that is something which we are continuously looking at.
01:34Besides that of course, another important factor which will relate to MRT will be the logistics sector.
01:40And logistics sector is one of the key pillars in the Johor-Singapore SCZ.
01:44And we hope that, our strategy and what we hope that,
01:48we can attract more investment from the logistics sector to relocate from Singapore to Johor.
01:53Because I think it makes more sense, you have a big warehouse in Johor rather than in Singapore.
01:58Of course it is complementary.
02:00Singapore still has a certain advantage on their airports and ports and their trading.
02:06But I think a lot of back-end operations can be relocated into Johor.
02:10And that is something which of course, we hope that working together with operators,
02:15port operators and port authorities, we can provide more space and land for that purpose.
