00:00Pinay World Jiu-Jitsu World Champion, Meggie Ochoa,
00:04announced her retirement as a member of the national team.
00:07However, she will continue her career as a sport, coach, and player
00:12that her club, Solas Jiu-Jitsu, has built
00:16in international competitions.
00:18In a long post on her Instagram account,
00:21Ochoa shared her decision to retire as a national athlete,
00:26but not in the whole sport.
00:28This was planned by her attention to the teaching and competition
00:32of her club, Solas Jiu-Jitsu,
00:34which is located in Aurora Boulevard, Quezon City.
00:37Aside from this, Ochoa passed the OCA-JJAU Coaches and Referees Development Program
00:47that will allow her to become a licensed coach and referee
00:51in the field of Jiu-Jitsu.
00:53Despite her retirement from the national team,
00:56Ochoa will continue to compete in international competitions
01:01throughout the Philippines through her club, Solas Jiu-Jitsu.
01:06Ochoa also promised to share her knowledge and experience
01:11with the next generation of athletes through coaching and mentorship.
01:17Ochoa is known not only for her successes in competitions,
01:21but also for her advocacy against child abuse and sex trafficking
01:26through her group, The Fight to Protect,
01:29which was launched in 2018.
01:32She is one of the youngest athletes in several major tournaments
01:37where Ochoa was recognized as a Multiple Sea Games Medalist,
01:412023 Asian Games Gold Medalist, and 3-time Jiu-Jitsu World Champion.
