Millions affected as snow hits Nebraska, New York

Inclement winter weather impacted parts of the United States on Saturday, January 4.

In North Platte, Nebraska, the National Weather Service (NWS) sent out an advisory warning that travel conditions will deteriorate due to ice and snow covered roads.

A ‘lake effect’ snow, or snow that occurs when cold air moves across the open waters of the Great Lakes, impacted Syracuse, New York as well. According to local media, the Lake effect snow will gradually weaken on Sunday, January 5.

Millions of Americans from the Plains to the East Coast faced the threat of blizzards, heavy snow, treacherous ice and freezing rain which is expected to ease on Monday (January 6), the NWS said on Saturday.
