00:00Cardi Nazari is entering its 10th day today in the New South Wales snowy mountains.
00:07The 23-year-old University of Melbourne student was four days into a hiking trip with his
00:12friends when on December 26, Boxing Day, he went missing.
00:17It was that afternoon that he was on the Hannel Spur Trail at Gee High, which is near Cairncobin
00:22and Threadbow in the Kosciuszko National Park.
00:25He decided to split off from his group of friends to take some photographs.
00:29After that afternoon, he failed to return back to the Gee High campground, a remote
00:33campground that his friends were staying at.
00:36They then contacted police and authorities, who then commenced a search that evening.
00:40Now, we are looking at a search that is ongoing in very dense and challenging terrain.
00:47Police have called this the most rugged terrain in New South Wales.
00:51On Tuesday, New Year's Eve, a number of items were located near the Kosciuszko Creek.
00:57Those items included hiking poles, rubbish, and other items that Hardy was carrying with
01:03him at the time that he went missing.
01:05Now, those being located near a water source, certainly a good sign there, but no other
01:12items have been located.
01:13Search efforts are ongoing.
01:15Police say they will have more specialist search operators and volunteers assisting
01:20across the weekend.
01:21The family do say that their hope is declining at this point, it's 10 days in, but police
01:25say that they have not lost out hope yet to find Hardy, but as mentioned, those terrain
01:30is very challenging, not only in terms of the landscape and the rugged terrain, but
01:34it is the centre of summer at the moment, and New South Wales Ambulance has issued a
01:38severe heatwave warning for parts of the state today, including the Snowy Mountains.
01:43So the conditions that the search volunteers are looking in and the agencies are looking
01:49in are challenging, and this is also a challenging terrain that Hardy is still believed to be
01:53located within.
