00:00In the last few months, especially at the end of last December,
00:07the number of accidents involving heavy vehicles has increased,
00:11resulting in an invaluable loss of life.
00:15We see and we know that at the end of December,
00:20one of the saddening accidents happened at the North-South Railway Station,
00:26near Aikro, where seven lives were lost.
00:32And many other accidents involving heavy vehicles also happened.
00:39As an agency responsible for road transport,
00:42JPJ must play an active role in ensuring the safety of road users.
00:49We have started a greater enforcement.
00:54Of course, the enforcement is ongoing.
00:58But because of several series of accidents,
01:02of course we need to strengthen and increase our enforcement capacity
01:08and greater enforcement to some places,
01:13some areas that we need to give pressure.
01:18We need to increase our enforcement capacity
01:21to ensure that the drivers comply with the driving time limit
01:25and ensure that the vehicles are parked properly.
01:28JPJ needs to be more firm towards drivers and workers who violate the rules
01:33because their negligence can threaten the lives of others.
01:38I hope that in the Ministry of Transport and also in the JPJ,
01:43we make our dedication or our new year resolution in 2025
01:51to ensure that we have a real effort
01:56to ensure a more secure road safety in our country.
02:01And we will go all out this year to enforce our rules and laws.
02:08I have given my commitment and support to the JPJ
02:13so that we can enforce our laws,
02:17we have to take action as firmly as possible
02:21without having to worry.
02:23Although I know that the enforcement will have pressure.
02:32So I give my commitment to the JPJ
02:35not to worry about political pressure.
02:37Although there are parties that when we enforce,
02:40they will try to pressure us for political pressure and so on.
02:44But from the question of enforcing the law,
02:47this is a matter of human life.
02:49I give a clear commitment
02:51that there is no need for any political considerations.
02:54We enforce the law,
02:56we take action without having to worry.
03:02Because it is our desire,
03:04we have a political view
03:06to ensure a better road safety.
03:10There are a few areas that we will focus on.
03:18Among them, we want to solve this heavy load,
03:23this overloading.
03:24We want to go all out to ensure that this overloading can be solved.
03:29If there is a need to amend the law,
03:31we will amend the law
03:33to ensure that all parties in the transportation and logistics ecosystem
03:38are in accordance so that there is no more reason for this overloading.
03:43We have heard for decades
03:45the reason for this overloading.
03:48There are parties who say they can't find food.
03:51The carriers still pay the same amount.
03:55That's why the lorries need to take more time
03:58and the passengers need to catch a trip.
04:01These are the reasons for years.
04:04So we have to be serious about this.
04:08First, we must tackle this issue of overloading this year.
04:12We must try to solve it
04:14to minimize this overloading
04:17so that we can ensure safety for road users.
04:23There are many other things.
04:27We need to drive fast.
04:29We also need to tackle the new inspection issues.
04:33We have found that there is an issue of integrity
04:36in the inspection of commercial vehicles.
04:39The vehicles that are not approved
04:42are approved
04:43because the tires are off.
04:46Many things are off.
04:48One of the causes of accidents is due to
04:51the lack of integrity in the inspection.
04:54The mechanics and techniques of the vehicles
04:59are not safe to use.
05:02It not only threatens the safety of the driver
05:09but also other road users.
05:13We can see this in the recent accident
05:17which is a cause
05:20caused by a vehicle
05:22that caused the death of another vehicle.
05:27These are the things that I think
05:30we need to take a closer look at.
