A firefighter has been injured and authorities are investigating reports a home has been lost in a bushfire east of Perth. The fire has already destroyed sheds and other infrastructure and closed a major highway, but the road has since reopened. The bushfire was downgraded from an emergency warning to a watch and act at 7:15pm, but firefighters continue battling the blaze which is burning in an easterly direction.

00:00We've seen now through aerial vision that at least one property has been destroyed.
00:07We understand it may be a farmhouse not too far from where I'm standing here at the Incident
00:10Control Centre.
00:11We can't say too much about that.
00:13What I can say is that a short time ago we were set up elsewhere along Great Eastern
00:16Highway which was closed overnight but reopened again after a short time and we were asked
00:20to move on with us and squad investigators setting up a crime scene there and asking
00:25us to leave the area.
00:26We're not sure entirely what that means at this time but hopefully we'll get some more
00:29information later in the day.
00:31So the fire has burnt through around 730 hectares, it did ease overnight and slowed down due
00:36to some calming conditions but it's already past 30 degrees here in Perth's north east
00:41or north east of Perth and it is going to be a very warm day with winds picking up as
00:45well so the fire fight is definitely not yet over.
