00:00It's taken almost six days, but Salt Lines has finally made it to Hobart, becoming the
00:08last yacht to complete the race.
00:11The boat crossed the finish line just after 10 o'clock local time, and as it pulled in
00:15to the Hobart waterfront, family and friends were on hand to cheer the crew on.
00:20How does it feel to be back on dry land with your family?
00:23The land doesn't feel too dry, it's quite wobbly, but no, really good, yeah it was,
00:28obviously we're at the tail end of the fleet, so to finally get in, it's, yeah fantastic,
00:33bit of a boyhood dream to compete, so it was nice to be a part of it.
00:37The boat was the 74th to finish the 628 nautical mile race, a proud achievement for the skipper
00:44and crew.
00:45Mighty salty!
00:46Yeah!
00:47It's a big solid ship, it doesn't do well in the light winds, and you're just sitting
00:54there and yeah, it's really plays with your mind, but being here it's all worth it.
01:00It feels good, it feels really good to get here, we had a long race with a lot of, not
01:05much wind, so lots of different conditions actually, it's been great.
01:10This year's race was marred by the tragic deaths of two sailors, Nick Smith and Roy
01:14Quaden.
01:15Challenging conditions also saw a total of 30 yachts forced to retire.
01:20LawConnect claimed line honours and Celestial was deemed the overall winner.
01:25But for the crew of Salt Lines, simply finishing the race on New Year's Day is a victory, even
01:30if they've come in at the tail end of the fleet.
