00:00So when Robin first came into the family,
00:02she started talking to us about these other families
00:05where the first wife divorced the husband
00:09so he could marry the second wife legally
00:11and legally adopt the kids.
00:12And I remember thinking, yeah, that's a plant.
00:15Christine Brown claiming her former sister wife, Robin,
00:18orchestrated Mary and Cody's divorce.
00:21So Robin will always be numero uno.
00:24I think she's going to be it.
00:25Why would they look for something else?
00:27I think they found each other.
00:28On Sister Wives, Mary continues to process
00:31the end of her relationship with Cody
00:33and reflects on their legal divorce,
00:35which happened in 2014.
00:37That legal divorce was so impactful for me
00:40because when I got married,
00:43there was one ceremony.
00:45He signed the paper, we're done.
00:47So now we're basically unsigning the paper.
00:50Like, I had a lot of heartache around that
00:53because I honestly, I didn't feel
00:56emotionally supported during all of that.
00:58Yeah.
00:59And I didn't feel like I should be.
01:01Mary was Cody's first wife
01:03before he spiritually married her now former sister wives,
01:06Christine, Janelle, and Robin.
01:09Cody and I met through his sister.
01:12She introduced us.
01:14I was 19 and he was 22.
01:16It actually was a very short courtship.
01:19It's so interesting that Cody was married to
01:22these women who had such different personalities.
01:26Well, you know, in the religion that we were involved in,
01:31and why we started our family,
01:34you know, our plural family that way,
01:36that's okay, you know?
01:37I mean, it's not like all of my friends
01:39all have the same personality.
01:41But you're not married to your friends.
01:43That's true.
01:44Mary was Cody's only legal wife from 1990 to 2014.
01:48That's when they divorced so he could legally marry
01:51his fourth wife, Robin.
01:53And Mary says it was all her idea.
01:57I was the one who made that move
02:00and went to go talk to the lawyer first
02:03because I was just in a place of let's just do it.
02:06Let's just rip the Band-Aid off.
02:07Let's just get it done.
02:08Mary came to me saying,
02:11we need to just do this divorce on paper
02:13so that you can adopt Robin's kids.
02:15I was actually sort of speechless
02:17when she told us that she was actually doing it
02:19because I thought Mary would never do this.
02:22Yeah, and Christine thinks the divorce
02:24was all Robin's idea.
02:26I remember thinking, yeah, that's a plant.
02:29And she mentioned that several times through the years.
02:32Like she was putting that in there
02:34because she would have loved that to happen.
02:36I don't think Mary felt like it was planted.
02:38I think Mary felt like it was her own idea.
02:40But Robin shuts that down and reveals
02:43she would have been okay without legally marrying Cody.
02:46The idea that I like planted an idea in Mary's head
02:49is an absolute lie.
02:50I never said it.
02:51I don't even know anyone who divorced their first wife
02:55so that the second wife could adopt kids.
02:57I've never even heard of that before.
02:59I never even wanted to be legally married to Cody.
03:02I was actually really grateful
03:04that I wasn't going to be legally married to Cody
03:07because I'd gone through so much trauma
03:10with my legal divorce in my last marriage.
03:12I was very happy and content with my spiritual marriage.
03:15I didn't need anything else.
03:16You know, you always point out how Robin was the only one
03:19that was really a priority.
03:20I definitely felt like she was the priority and stuff.
03:23So yeah, and I think that he really honestly
03:26just loved her the most.
03:28But even then, it's just got to be a really hard hit
03:31to be able to lose three incredibly wonderful,
03:35amazing, dynamic women.
03:37If you don't say so yourself.
03:39There you go.
03:40There you go.
