00:10There are a lot of patients, but there are not enough healthcare workers?
00:13Imagine if there are robots that can help with their simple tasks.
00:18Well, the future is here, courtesy of a local university team.
00:23Come on, let's change the game.
00:25♪♪♪
00:29A big challenge for the country's healthcare industry is the shortage of healthcare workers,
00:34reaching 190,000.
00:37That's why to reduce the workload and their daily grind.
00:40Hey, Lisa, can you help me?
00:43Send me this document to the nurse.
00:46It's okay.
00:47Okay.
00:49Thank you, Lisa. Thank you.
00:51♪♪♪
01:02Hello, Lisa. Thank you.
01:06Lisa can help.
01:08Short for Logistics Indoor Service Assistant Robot.
01:13Lisa can answer simple tasks like delivering medical supplies or documents,
01:18disinfection in the hospital,
01:20and remote consultation with patients using an installed tablet.
01:25Developed by Dr. Anthony James Bautista and his team at the USD Faculty of Engineering.
01:32We developed the Lisa robot during the peak of the pandemic, 2020.
01:37We were able to develop it so that the doctors can have communication to the patients.
01:43Now that the project has evolved, it depends on the needs of the hospitals.
01:49Due to the funding of the DOST, Philippine Council for Health Research and Development,
01:53they were able to further improve Lisa's capabilities.
01:56This new version of the Lisa robot uses simultaneous localization and mapping,
02:02wherein we use a LiDAR sensor to map the facility,
02:10and then save it to her memory.
02:12With that concept, the robot can navigate autonomously.
02:16The main attraction or main feature of the Lisa robot is its ability to map out where it is
02:23and move autonomously using the LiDAR sensors.
02:28Here in our app, we can see the different points that it can go to.
02:34We have a document that we will place here on the tray,
02:38and we will confirm where it will go.
02:41It will be instructed to go to room 813.
02:45It also has proximity sensors.
02:47It also enables Lisa to avoid objects so that it won't get hit.
02:53If you want to communicate with the patient or the nurse using the Lisa robot,
02:57they can also do that using the tablet attached.
03:01Commercially ready is the Lisa robot,
03:03and it is also highly customizable depending on the needs of the hospital.
03:08Those are the basics that a robot can do that could help ease the burden
03:13or the common tasks of our healthcare workers.
03:16There you have it, Kapuso.
03:18A very helpful tech that can help reduce the workload of our healthcare workers.
