00:00Your top teams across the NBA in the East, of course, Cleveland and overall at 26 and
00:10for the Celtics, the Knicks.
00:12On the other side, the Thunder, who we didn't see yesterday, either 23 and five, the Rockets,
00:17the Grizzlies.
00:18We can include them in the conversation just at 20 and 10 more than respectable, obviously.
00:23But when we're looking at the futures market in the NBA, knowing that we're not even halfway
00:28through the year, Joe, we're, what, third of the way, let's call it, through the year,
00:32a little bit more than that.
00:33But Celtics and Thunder, these are the chalk, these are the teams that, you know, I think
00:38a lot of people probably have exactives on in terms of facing off in the NBA Finals.
00:43Boston on FanDuel at plus 200 to win the championship, the Thunder at plus 310.
00:50Then you start to get into the neighborhood of value, obviously.
00:53The Knicks, 10 to 1.
00:54Nuggets, 16 to 1.
00:56We've seen Jokic do it before.
00:58Mavericks, even with this Luka injury, sitting at 16 to 1.
01:02The Suns, also 16 to 1.
01:05What about the disrespect, if we call it that, for the Cleveland Cavaliers, coming in seventh
01:10at 17 to 1, despite having the league's best record right now?
01:14Yeah, I mean, that's, you just said it, right?
01:17It seems a little disrespectful here, but given the history of all the teams that are
01:23in front of them there, and the big-name players they have, it's kind of hard to say
01:28that the Cavs are in the, even though it's been an amazing start, we all know what matters.
01:33And it's not games that are played by the time we get to Christmas.
01:37It's what's going to happen from this point on that matters.
01:41And you got to give the Knicks credit, too.
01:43Listen, I can argue the way the Knicks offensively have played here, and what they're showing,
01:48that 10 to 1 might be a little disrespectful.
01:51The Nuggets have a lot of issues, depth-wise, there.
01:55This is going to be a big effort by Denver to be able to get back to where they want to go.
02:00And Dallas, once again, now we got to deal with the injury to Doncic.
02:05So there are a lot of people I think the Cavs can pass that are in front of them from an
02:10odds perspective, but at 17 to 1 now, hey, is it worth a shot?
02:16Absolutely.
02:17They still have to get by the Celtics, and we know that.
02:20But at 17 to 1, is that number going to get any worse, in your opinion, as the season
02:25stretches on here?
02:26I don't know.
02:27How do you feel about the chalk at the top?
02:30I mean, I know a lot of people don't like to bet chalk, but at a certain point, plus
02:35money's plus money.
02:36If you think the Celtics and or Thunder are just head and shoulders that much better than
02:41the NBA, could you talk yourself into those numbers?
02:45I can't.
02:46I mean, to me, it would be all about finding value with these 15, 16 to 1, 17 to 1, 20
02:54to 1 teams like the Bucs or even the Cavs here at that.
03:00And then having that in your back pocket and looking for an opportunity as the season progresses
03:04where if injuries strike OKC or the Celtics or any of these chalky teams, you have a pretty
03:12good opportunity to hedge there as we get a little bit closer to May and June.
03:18And I'd much rather have that than hold a 2 to 1 ticket on the Celtics, who are going
03:22to be minus 135 come February.
03:24So it's not enough for me to tie up the money to back them at this point.
03:31But there may come a time at some point over the next couple of months where maybe they
03:36start to come back and you can get 6 to 1, 5 to 1, somewhere in that ballpark.
03:40We might have a different conversation.
