00:00Firecracker fiends and pyromaniacs, listen up.
00:04The boom and bang of dangerous and lethal fireworks and pyrotechnics are under prohibition
00:09this New Year's Eve.
00:11For good measure, the DILG, PNP, BFP and BJMP are deploying 78,000 cops, prison security
00:19personnel and firefighters nationwide to ensure a safe transition to New Year 2025.
00:25And they will not be shy or second-guessing themselves in penalizing violators of the
00:30firecracker ban as we hear more from PTV correspondent Vel Custodio.
00:38With barely a week before the New Year, local government units and other government agencies
00:43are busy preparing for the safe New Year's Eve celebration.
00:47The Bureau of Fire Protection is tirelessly working to keep the number of fireworks-related
00:51incidents low as the New Year's Eve approaches.
00:54Under Executive Order No. 28 and Republic Act No. 7183, the use and sale of fireworks
01:00is strictly prohibited.
01:02Among them, Watusi, Piccolo, Bawang, Five Star, Atomic Bomb and other types of pyrotechnic
01:09devices.
01:10Following this, the BFP is conducting a safety education and fire prevention campaign.
01:15Fire trucks are moving through densely populated areas for visibility reinforcement and reminder
01:20via public address system.
01:22Quezon Memorial Circle is one of the main areas in Metro Manila where dazzling fireworks
01:27are on display on the New Year's Eve.
01:29Based on QC ordinance, documented violators may be fined from P1,000 to P5,000 and or
01:36imprisonment for three months to one year depending on the gravity of the offense or
01:41degree of danger the public is exposed to.
01:44There will also be fireworks displayed during the New Year's countdown along Ayala Avenue
01:49in Makati and some other areas in City Cluster.
01:52The BFP continues to work hand-in-hand with local governments in controlling the use
01:57of fireworks, especially in residential areas.
02:00The Bureau of Fire Protection recommends the public to attend music festival instead.
02:04We designate community fireworks display areas and knowing that Filipinos, more than us,
02:14enjoy joking around, using torotot, or the traditional sound of casserole or caldero,
02:24which is safer now.
02:26And our fellow Filipinos attend the so-called musical festivities in their localities,
02:35which also have countdowns.
02:37The Quezon Memorial Circle management keeps reminding its residents and the public that
02:43and other plastic sandboxes are prohibited in the area.
02:46Instead, just bring reusable bags and water containers and cutlery or recyclable spoons,
02:52forks, and knives to maintain cleanliness as also part of the environmental advice.
02:56Vel Custodio, from the National TV Network, for a new and better Philippines.
