00:00So we're here at Delivery Suite, Princess Royal, and you are?
00:03I'm Jackie Bolton, I'm the maternity matron for today.
00:06You're the Christmas Day.
00:08Yeah, yeah.
00:09Some of us have to do it, don't we?
00:11So how is it? It's kind of a nice vibrant, well, I mean, you're in the thick of it, but it's a nice atmosphere, isn't it?
00:17It is lovely, yes.
00:18So how does it compare to previous Christmas days in terms of the amount of babies?
00:22Well, I think we've had three babies already this far this morning, so it's actually been quite busy for us this morning.
00:28Sometimes it's later in the day when the babies arrive, so we've got a few more in labour and another lady who probably will be having a baby today.
00:34So it's been a really exciting day so far.
00:36And what happens for yourself in terms of your Christmas dinner and so on?
00:40Well, I'm hoping that somebody will have saved me some Christmas dinner for when I get home a bit later.
00:43Fingers crossed, yeah.
00:44Yeah, it's a tough gig, but it's quite nice, isn't it, really?
00:49The families, the ones we've spoke to, they're a bit unexpected.
00:53Yes, yeah.
00:54But I guess that makes it all the more special, doesn't it, really?
00:58Yeah, so we've had a really good morning with them, so that's been great.
01:02And do you get New Year's off, or are you working on that shift as well?
01:05I'm not working New Year, so we'll have that next, won't we?
01:08Cool. Well, thank you, Jackie, to you and all the staff. Thank you.
01:11Merry Christmas.
01:12Cheers.
01:13Congratulations, guys.
01:16Mum's feeling a little bit shattered.
01:18You're just gagging for some sleep, aren't you, but it's not happening.
01:22It's not happening, it's not happening.
01:24So who have we got then? Let's start with baby. Is it Milo, isn't it?
01:27And then, Mum, what's your name?
01:29It's Corleen Newman.
01:30And go on, boss.
01:31Rhys.
01:32Where are you from, guys?
01:33Wellington.
01:34I'm not from around here, am I?
01:36You're from Cambridge.
01:37No, I'm from two hours away.
01:40And it's your first baby?
01:42Mm-hmm.
01:43And you definitely weren't expecting a Christmas Day. When was your due date?
01:4715th of January.
01:49There was a little bit of you trying to get your head around it that it might happen, like, yeah?
01:53We were like, he's going to come Christmas Day, no matter what.
01:57Yeah, yeah. So what's the situation at home? Is there, like, food sitting there?
02:01Yeah, there's food ready to go.
02:03Literally, there's everything ready there, waiting.
02:05Yeah, yeah.
02:06We're just waiting for him to come, aren't we, lovey?
02:08So how's it gone? I mean, you know, it's a bit...
02:11Labor went quite quick, didn't it?
02:13Yeah.
02:14A lot quicker than we thought it would have.
02:15Yeah.
02:16Yeah.
02:17Well, I guess that's a good thing, isn't it? You don't want to be in that situation for too long.
02:21So they gave me a hormone drip and they were like, oh, it's worked a little bit too quick.
02:24Yeah.
02:25And so, did you have the name? Because obviously you've come a bit early.
02:28Did you have the names all set to go? Did you know if it was...
02:30Well, we only came here in two, didn't we?
02:32Yeah.
02:33So we've not thought of no middle name at all. We're just leaving that one blank, aren't we?
02:38To be decided.
02:40We've had it set on wider for a while.
02:42And did you know you were having a boy?
02:44Yeah.
02:45We had that gut feeling.
02:46Yeah.
02:47And then we got a surgery and a boy.
02:49Yeah, yeah.
02:51So what's in stock then? Are you kind of quite happy just to be resting here?
02:55Are you eager to get home? How's it work?
02:57I've been told that I just want to go home and bed, really.
02:59Yeah, get that short eye.
03:02Well, thanks ever so much, guys. And we wish you all the best with baby Milo.
03:05Take care.
03:06We're here at Telford, Princess Royal and Christmas babies. Congratulations.
03:12So who've we got then? What's little one's name?
03:15Sayida Shanoor.
03:16And mum, what's your name?
03:18Zalewa.
03:19And dad?
03:20Sayid Shehzad.
03:21And where are you from, guys?
03:22We are from Pakistan.
03:24Yeah? Live in Telford now?
03:26Live in Telford, yeah.
03:27And this is your first baby?
03:28Yes.
03:29Yeah, yeah. How special is that Christmas?
03:31Yeah, and she's lucky.
03:32Yeah, yeah.
03:33It's so special.
03:34How was it? I mean, it's tough going, but was it as, did it go as smooth as you hoped?
03:41No, it was a long, long labour.
03:44Was it?
03:45Yes.
03:46And then at the end we had a c-section.
03:49Oh, wow. Okay, yeah.
03:51And then we have a beautiful princess.
03:54Yeah, you've got two beautiful princesses now. You're well outnumbered at home now, dad, eh, with the two ladies.
04:00So what time was she born?
04:02It's 7.55am.
04:04Yeah, and her weight was?
04:077.1 pounds.
04:08Wow, okay, okay. So your due date wasn't actually Christmas Day, was it? I mean, the due dates are never, they're just a rough idea, but when was your due date?
04:17It was 9th January 2025, obviously.
04:20So in your head, were you thinking it could be Christmas, or had you ruled that out?
04:26No, I wasn't thinking, so.
04:28Yeah.
04:29Yeah.
04:30So when did labour start for you then?
04:32Actually, my labour didn't start, so they had to induce it to some health conditions.
04:38Yeah, yeah, yeah.
04:39So, yeah.
04:41So how special, though, do you know what I mean? It's magnificent. So you'll have a double celebration every Christmas now, won't you?
04:48Yes, I think so.
04:49Yeah. And will this be the first of many? What's the long-term plan for the family? Big, big family, or are you thinking, you know what, let's just get my head round this one first?
05:00Yes.
05:01We'll try to adjust.
05:02Are you all prepared at home? Because obviously it's come a bit early.
05:06Yeah, I've got everything ready for her.
05:08So what happens in terms of a Christmas day for you guys? You've got the biggest present you can ever have. Do you ever get as far as having a big dinner, or is that kind of all, you know?
05:17Yeah, we'll see. We haven't planned that.
05:20Yeah.
05:21Yeah.
05:22Well, we wish you all the best, guys.
05:24Thank you so much.
05:25Yeah.
05:26Thanks.
05:27How magical. Take care of yourselves, guys.
