00:54I read that article.

01:58I read the books of both the sides.
02:06This is the age of social media.
02:08Do you share what you read, what you feel on blogs, Facebook or Twitter?
02:15Earlier, I used to write a blog.
02:19The name of my blog used to be Superman Nitans.
02:25After that, my blog broke down in the blink of an eye.
02:31Sometimes, I get an interesting insight.
02:37Sometimes, I use LinkedIn, which is a professional social media platform.
02:44Sometimes, I post on LinkedIn.
02:48I am not active on Facebook or Twitter.
02:51Everyone is active on Twitter.
02:54What about followers?
02:56Earlier, I used to have many followers.
03:00Now, with time, I don't have many followers.

03:12When I was active on Facebook, I used to have many followers.
03:16I used to have thousands of followers.
03:19Sir, what is this distance?
03:22One thing is that we don't realize the importance of social media.
03:28It has a huge impact on our lives.
03:30I told you that people always fight on Twitter.
03:33If you keep fighting, your mindset will change.
03:38Social media is a part of your life.
03:45It is a part of your inner peace.
03:49I used to uninstall all the social media platforms.
03:54I couldn't uninstall WhatsApp.
03:56Because, I have to work on WhatsApp.
03:59I have to work on WhatsApp.
04:02Otherwise, I used to uninstall all the social media platforms.
04:06How do you spend time with your family?
04:08I have two small children in my family.
04:11My wife.
04:12My father lives in Jaipur.
04:14He comes here from time to time.
04:16My father has gone to Ayodhya.
04:18Today is his 21st birthday.
04:20So, he is celebrating his birthday today.
04:22My father also comes here from time to time.
04:24I play with my two children.
04:27Gradually, my children's studies have started getting better.
04:30How do you handle your children?
04:34I definitely have to give them time.
04:39How do you do that?
04:41I wake up early in the morning.
04:44My children are sleeping.
04:46When I come home at night, my children are sleeping.
04:49Sometimes, this happens.
04:52Or, my children go to school early in the morning.
04:55I am sleeping at that time.
04:57When I come home at night, my children are sleeping.
04:59Sometimes, this happens.
05:01It is important that whenever you get time,
05:05you should spend quality time with your children.
05:08You should be involved in your children's studies.
05:11You should explain concepts to your children.
05:14For example, my daughter is studying about square, perimeter, area, etc.
05:23My son is studying about spelling.
05:28I want to teach him how to make words with sound.
05:33Do you play scrabble with your children?
05:35Not scrabble, but sometimes I play carrom, chess.
05:39When you mentioned spelling, I thought you were playing with your children.
05:42I don't have scrabble, but it is a good idea.
05:44I buy scrabble.
05:46It will be very interesting with my children.
05:48Sometimes, I play chess with my children.
05:50I play carrom.
05:52I play outdoor games.
05:54I do some physical activities.
05:56What about your wife?
05:58My wife always complains that I don't give her time.
06:02I think this is common with all of you.
06:06All of you complain that you don't give her time.
06:09In many ways, there is truth.
06:12But, I try to give her time whenever I can.
06:16I try to give proper time to my family.
06:20If your wife is with you and you want to go shopping,
06:25how do you handle that situation?
06:30I had decided this before marriage that I don't want to go shopping.
06:39The biggest issue in going shopping is that
06:42if you go shopping,
06:44you see something, you like it, you buy it.
06:48It's not like you go to 10 places and buy it.
06:51When you are a collector,
06:53and you go shopping with your wife,
06:56people will recognize you.
07:00But, in such situations,
07:02I don't go quietly.
07:05I don't say anything.
07:07Do you change your car at that time?
07:09Yes, I change my car.
07:11As an IITian, what would you like to teach the youth?
07:16Mr. Suraj,
07:18I would like to give one message.
07:22The youth have a lot of anxiety.
07:28They have to choose their career.
07:31They have to make important decisions all their life.
07:36Naturally, they have a lot of anxiety.
07:39They have a lot of ups and downs in their life.
07:43When they grow up, their life becomes more or less settled.
07:47In the beginning, they have a lot of ups and downs.
07:50It happens in everyone's life.
07:52You should have resilience.
07:54You should have courage.
07:57No matter how many ups and downs you have in your life,
08:00you should have courage.
08:03No matter how bad the situation is,
08:06no matter how strong the tsunami is,
08:09it will go back to the sea.
08:12Time never stays the same.
08:14You should have a little sense of satisfaction.
08:17When you have to leave your life,
08:20you should not give up.
08:23You should have faith in yourself.
08:27You should work harder.
08:30You should work hard to prepare yourself for the future.
08:36I have been to IIT, IAS, and other places.
08:43I have always done well.
08:45But I have not always been good.
08:47I have failed in IIT.
08:49I have not even got my degree.
08:51When I was about to leave IIT for Computer Science,
08:54I did not have a job.
08:56I had a lot of problems.
08:58I used to tell my father that I have failed in one course.
09:01I used to fail in two courses.
09:03My father used to get worried that
09:05my father might get shocked.
09:11Basically, this is the kind of ups and downs you have to face.
09:16But you should have courage.
09:18You should work hard.
09:20There is a sort of default construct.
09:23If you get good marks in the 10th grade,
09:26you have to take Science.
09:28These are the default things.
09:30Some people have a specific choice.
09:33But if you have not thought much in life,
09:35and you get good marks in the 10th grade,
09:37you take Science.
09:38If you have a doctor's background,
09:40you take Biology.
09:41If not, you take Maths.
09:42You will become an engineer.
09:43If you are intelligent,
09:45you will get into IIT.
09:47This is the default construct.
09:50There is a popular question about public service.
09:53The environment in which we come from,
09:57in our part of the country,
09:59my grandparents,
10:02my grandparents,
10:03my parents,
10:04they all wanted me to go to IIT when I grew up.
10:08Okay.
10:09This is how the line changed.
10:13I took IIT.
10:15After I took IIT,
10:17I used to give IIT exams.
10:18But as I told you,
10:19I used to fail in IIT.
10:20My degree was extended.
10:22My degree was extended for 6 months.
10:24In such a situation,
10:26I used to think,
10:27where will I study?
10:30If I get a job,
10:32if I get a job,
10:33that was a big thing at that time.
10:35At that time, I was so scared
10:37that I could not give the exam.
10:39Then somehow,
10:40I got an IIM in Lucknow.
10:41I got an IIM in Lucknow.
10:44After that,
10:45I got a job in a city group in Hong Kong.
10:54That is one of the best jobs in the world.
10:56Who will leave him in his right mind?
10:59Right.
11:00IIM.
11:01Then I went there.
11:03I used to do trading there.
11:08I used to trade your currencies,
11:10derivatives,
11:11credit,
11:12equity,
11:13interest rates,
11:14etc.
11:15Central bank's actions
11:17and government policies
11:18were very influential
11:19on the financial markets.
11:21As you have seen,
11:22when Trump won,
11:23Donald Trump said
11:24that he will impose tariffs,
11:26etc.
11:27The market fluctuated.
11:30When you trade markets,
11:32you follow government policies
11:33and central bank's actions
11:34very closely.
11:35While doing that,
11:37gradually,
11:38I thought,
11:39let me get on the other side of the table.
11:41I am also in policy making.
11:44I worked there for 3 years.
11:47After that,
11:48I came to India
11:49and prepared for IAS.
11:50Again?
11:51Then IAS.
11:52In 2011,
11:53I left that job.
11:55Then I started preparing for IAS.
11:57My first attempt was in IPS.
11:59But actually,
12:00I wanted to do IAS.
12:01So,
12:02I gave another attempt.
12:03When was your first attempt in IPS?
12:05In 2013.
12:07And IAS?
12:08In 2014.
12:11In 2011,
12:13you were in Hong Kong.
12:15Yes.
12:16In City Group.
