"Populu e santi" was perhaps the first album by folk group Taberna Mylaensis from Milazzo, Sicily. In 1976 two albums were released, the sequence of which has never been clear; there was probably enough material for a double album but the option of two single albums was chosen. Instrument and voices in the stirctest sense of the Sicilian popular tradition, as well as texts, closely linked to the jobs and popular social status: carters, miners, grape harvesters, peasant rurality, anger and protest for their own conditions, all closely linked to a profound religious sense.
