01:04Vice President Sara Duterte refuses to explain what lawmakers describe as fabricated receipts
01:09related to her use of confidential funds.
01:27On Monday, December 9, House Good Government Panel Chief Joe Alchua said 405 out of 677
01:34signatories in the Education Department's acknowledgment receipts were non-existent.
01:38She cited a report from the Philippine Statistics Authority.
01:41Duterte also refused to answer whether Merigres Piatos and other conspicuous names on receipts
01:46were pseudonyms related to confidential expenses.
01:49The vice president repeatedly said she would not answer questions from lawmakers on her
01:53use of confidential funds.
01:55She said the Commission on Audit is the proper agency to inquire about the matter.
01:59She urges lawmakers to also investigate the Office of the President's use of confidential
02:03funds rather than, quote, singling out the offices she led.
02:06Duterte resigned as Education Secretary in June.
02:11Vice President Sara Duterte tells reporters what she plans to do in case she is ordered
02:16arrested.
02:17I do not plan to leave the country or I do not plan to hide if there will be a warrant
02:22of arrest, mainly because my children are here.
02:27This after she snubbed a summons to a probe by the National Bureau of Investigation, which
02:31had been rescheduled to accommodate her.
02:33The NBI is probing threats Duterte made against the President, the First Lady, and the House
02:38Speaker.
02:39Duterte says her lawyer sent a letter to the NBI, vehemently denying making any statements
02:43that can be classified as a grave threat or as a violation of the anti-terrorism law.
02:49Duterte also says she does not regret what she said about her political opponents.
02:53It's a good thing they know that if I die, I will not die in vain.
02:58Meantime, Duterte says she is looking into forming her own private security team should
03:02the military withdraw her detail.
03:05How would she fund this private team?
03:07Duterte says her husband, Mans Carpio, would, quote, make arrangements.
03:13The UN General Assembly votes overwhelmingly to demand an immediate, unconditional and
03:17permanent ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza and to immediately release all hostages.
03:23The vote, cast on Wednesday, December 11, is more urgent in tone than the UNGA's earlier
03:27ceasefire resolutions.
03:29158 out of the 193 member states voted in favor of the move.
03:34Nine voted against it, including Israel and the U.S., while 13 abstained.
03:38UNGA resolutions are not binding but carry political weight, reflecting a global view
03:43on the war.
03:44The UNGA also adopted a resolution in support of the UN Palestinian Relief Agency, UNRWA.
03:50Israel recently passed a law banning UNRWA operations in Israel, beginning late January.
03:55The UN resolution demands Israel to respect UNRWA's mandate and enable its operations
04:00to proceed without impediment or restriction.
04:03Israel launched its war on Gaza after Hamas' October 7, 2023 attack, which killed 1,200
04:08people.
04:09Gaza's health ministry says the war has killed more than 44,000 people over the last 13 months.
04:17Luigi Mangione, who was charged with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, received
04:22thousands of dollars in online donations and a flurry of messages of support.
04:26There's been a broad condemnation of the crime he's been accused of.
04:30However, Reuters reports the photogenic 26-year-old Ivy League graduate has become an unsettling
04:35mix of folk hero, celebrity, and online crush in certain circles.
04:39On the crowdsourced fundraising site GiveSendGo alone, more than $31,000 in donations have
04:45poured in for Mangione as of Wednesday.
04:47The majority of messages on the site express many Americans' deep frustration with the
04:52U.S. healthcare system.
04:53Other websites are selling Mangione merchandise, such as hats, T-shirts printed with his face,
04:58and messages of support.
05:00Former FBI agent David Shapiro says it's hard to underestimate people's rage towards their
05:04insurance providers.
05:06Shapiro says the response to Mangione is unprecedented, and not impossible considering it's easy to
05:11express anonymous support online.
05:14On TikTok, some users have made comments like Class Consciousness Is Rising, and some
05:18have called Mangione an absolute legend.
05:23LaSalle's Kevin Quimbao dominates the game against UP in the UAAP's Season 87 Men's
05:28Basketball Finals Game 2 to force a do-or-die game.
05:32On Wednesday night, December 11, Quimbao scored 22 points, including 11 in LaSalle's fourth
05:36quarter comeback bid.
05:38Quimbao's performance left LaSalle's coach Topic Robinson speechless, but grateful for
05:42the team's resilience and determination.
05:45Despite being down 71-63 in the fourth quarter, Quimbao and his teammate Mike Phillips managed
05:50to carry the Archers through to a game-three decider.
05:53Robinson says he is grateful that he still has Quimbao on the team.
05:57Quimbao is set to make a career decision, and is likely headed for the Korean Basketball
06:01League to turn pro.
06:02Meanwhile, UP's Francis Lopez says he has no excuse for the four straight missed free-throws
06:07and a pair of turnovers down the stretch.
06:09He says all that's left now is to move on and focus on Game 3.
