01:08and uranium-235 in a residence in Barangay Gusa, Cagayan de Oro

01:12The National Bureau of Investigation says it caught Roy Vistal, the alleged syndicate

01:17leader, trafficking hazardous uranium

01:19The operation marks the end of a two-month investigation stretching across three cities

01:24in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, Pasay, Mandawi, and Cagayan de Oro

01:29Vistal's partner in the syndicate, May Virgel Zagala, and associate Arnel Gimpaya-Santiago

01:34were apprehended in Pasay City, along with three kilograms of the uranium isotopes

01:40The Philippine Nuclear Research Institute says it alerted the NBI to the group's illicit

01:44trade of the hazardous materials

01:47There are strict regulations on uranium-238 and highly radioactive and fissionable uranium-235

01:53as they are essential to nuclear energy and weapons production

01:57The NBI says the uranium isotopes can be used by terrorist organizations to beef up

02:02their weaponry

02:03But the PNRI chief clarifies, the recovered uranium would not be enough to produce a bomb

02:08but its residual powder will still be dangerous to the public

02:12The three suspects are now in the custody of the Justice Department for violating the

02:16Atomic Energy Regulatory and Liability Act of 1968

02:23The Bicameral Conference Committee agrees not to reinstate the P1.3 billion slashed

02:28by the House of Representatives from the more than P2 billion request of the Sara Duterte-led

02:32Office of the Vice President for 2025

02:35It only approved P733 million for the OVP

02:39This despite pledges by some Duterte-allied senators such as Bato De La Rosa and Bong Go

02:44to work on the restoration of the OVP's budget for next year

02:48In September, the House only approved P733 million, an apparent punishment for Duterte's
