00:00In Rome, the General States of ONTM, the National Observatory for the Protection of the Sea,
00:11which for this edition of 2024 puts at the center the energy challenge towards the self-sufficiency of the country,
00:18the new frontier of renewable energy offshore.
00:20Today, on the occasion of the General States of the National Observatory for the Protection of the Sea,
00:24we once again had the meeting of entities, institutions and associations on a very important topic,
00:32that of the energy transition, in particular of offshore plants.
00:37And so, even in this case, the observatory has proven to be a very important element of conjunction of all these activities.
00:47The future of the observatory is to gather even more of these energies that we have around the sea,
00:55to try to unify as much as possible the idea of a sustainability of all the activities that can be done,
01:02from the port activities to those of tourism, those of fishing, to those of the energies we are talking about today.
01:09The debate has focused attention on what could be the contribution of the sea cluster,
01:13not only for the energy sector, but also for the innumerable other challenges that Italy is facing today.
01:19The sea is fundamental for those nations, such as Italy, that make the maritime economy one of the main sources of the internal battery.
01:32As everyone knows, about 90% of the traffic, of all the goods, have a port on the sea.
01:41And so that the sea is safe and usable by the entire maritime cluster,
01:50the military marines have a task to make the maritime area safe and usable by everyone.
02:02We are in a global context in which the energy transition is an essential priority.
02:08Italy must take the opportunity offered by renewable energies to guarantee energy security,
02:13environmental sustainability and economic competitiveness, a theme that also involves the funds of the PNRR.
02:20It is a fundamental asset. Initially, there was an ideal mismatch between PNRR and PNIEC,
02:29almost that the PNRR should essentially mean infrastructure and PNIEC energy.
02:35Today, these two categories are somehow merging.
02:38We have many plants for the production of energy from renewable sources that access PNRR funds.
02:45This opens up a new perspective that requires great attention,
02:49not only on the quality of environmental assessments, but also on the consistency with the access times to financing.
