00:00Dr. Madhavi has put up room 9 pop-up wall for Save the Weave, Save the Weavers.
00:05This is a very noble cause.
00:06As you all know, I don't support commercials.
00:10And as you all know, my mother passed away just two weeks ago.
00:16But I had given my word to Dr. Madhavi, anything for our weavers.
00:20Even in 2019, when they had a handloom, I supported them.
00:27Anytime for handloom, we have such a rich culture of handloom in our country.
00:32I am not just saying this for commercial reasons.
00:35I have also stopped using fast fashion.
00:38I tell my children not to use fast fashion.
00:41Try to use khadi, try to use cotton.
00:43That is woven in India.
00:45In our country, there are so many weavers.
00:47We have such a rich heritage.
00:51We have to support that.
00:53When foreigners come and support us, we realize how much of a handloom heritage we have.
01:00But we as Indians, we as our own country, especially the states of the south,
01:05when we look at Telangana, Andhra Pradesh or Chennai, we have such beautiful weaves.
01:10Even from Mangalgiri to Kanjipuram, it's such a rich dynasty.
01:16To Kerala sarees, to Mysore silk.
01:19In all the states, going again to the north, we have Banaras and we have Paitanese.
01:24If we don't support our handloom weavers, who will support them?
01:30So this is our moral and responsibility and our duty as a citizen of our country
01:35that we should support our weavers.
01:37And a little bit of fast fashion, yes it is cheap and it is easy.
01:40But if you put in a little effort and try to use a cotton which is cultivated in India,
01:47which is woven in India and we support the weavers,
01:50the weavers will not just disappear and become extinct, like unfortunately,
01:56which is happening right now.
01:57So it is my appeal to the younger generation especially,
02:00please support our Indian heritage, which is the locally grown cotton,
02:05locally grown, we have linen also, hemp.
02:09So please support the weavers who do it and support the small cottage industries
02:13rather than going to these fancy big shops in the malls and making them richer.
02:24I am always comfortable in linen, that's my favorite.
02:31Colors, everyone knows orange color.
02:33So I am trying to use less orange, so I am turning to purple.
02:38Otherwise if I open my cupboard, it will mostly be orange.
02:41But I like all colors, colors is never a problem.
02:44It's the fabric, I am trying my best.
02:46I have also, I have also bought fast fashion for a long time,
02:50but I have reduced it a lot for almost one year.
02:53For yoga pants and all that, we tend to buy the spandex and you know the artificial fabric.
03:00Instead of that, I bought cotton pants.
03:02I told Akira, he is also using cotton, he is using linen for his yoga.
03:07So we have to, the chain should start with us.
03:10It is not easy.
03:14Slowly, slowly if we cut down on buying fast fashion and encourage our local weavers,
03:19it will take one, two years, but it will be a good change.
03:29So this is Dr. Madhavi, she is the owner of Room 9 and she is supporting all this good cause.
03:34It's a zero cost.
03:35She is not going to be charging the rent.
03:37So the weavers, even for this, the handloom exhibition she has put,
03:41we should all support people like Dr. Madhavi and Room 9,
03:44so they can support the weavers and more people will get the easy access to the weavers
03:50who will get their products directly and buy from them.
04:01Thanks to Madam Renu Desai Garu and Madhavi.
04:05And they are like almost ambassadors for us who are going to take this,
04:10save the weave forward and we look forward for more participation from the society.
04:16We really thank you, ma'am, for supporting weavers.
04:20And thank you so much, Renu Garu, because I know that Renu Garu is not feeling well
04:26and she is going through a bad phase.
04:28Her mother is no more.
04:30But also on a small gratitude of love on us and Room 9,
04:35she came all the way and that's so nice of her
04:38because she always encourages only the positivity, which I saw her.
04:42I've been traveling with her.
04:44Always animal shelters.
04:47And she recently started a Sri Adya animal shelter,
04:51which Room 9 and Celebrity Secrets
04:54and all my close circle and families and friends are supporting her
04:58because of a good cause.
05:00So she recently bought an ambulance and she won't tell anything about herself,
05:05but I know, so I'm telling Renu Garu.
05:07They are rescuing 5 to 7 dogs and cats and injured animals, accident cases.
05:12It's a never-ending, ongoing process.
05:14And she also built a 1-acre land and I think I cannot disclose.
05:19No, no, you can.
05:21I've rented the land, not bought it.
05:23Shelter is under construction.
05:25And she's building a hospital for the animals.
05:28And that's a very nice cause.
05:30So like Renu Garu and the positive people like Commissioner of Handlooms,
05:35Mrs. Rekharani ma'am, and Balalata ma'am,
05:38everybody, all positive people in one mode can create a lot of wonders
05:43and save very good people who are in need.
05:46So thank you so much.
05:48My pleasure.
