00:00And at 7 here is McCaffrey, big opening McCaffrey, a shoestring tackle.
00:05He was ready to take it to the house.
00:08Brought down at the 30 yard line.
00:10That wasn't even a full shoestring, that was a half-string tackle on the tail end of this one.
00:16Now, back to Will and Dibby on 95-7, the game.
00:21It was also the last healthy run of Christian McCaffrey's season, so it would appear.
00:25There was one more touch and that's when he just slid to the ground, knew something wasn't right.
00:30I do want to share, because I found this to be very interesting.
00:34I don't like to try to be a doctor because I'm not.
00:37You're more of one than I am.
00:38Yeah, I'm into it.
00:39You've had all the injuries and stuff like that.
00:41Got a couple of them right now, actually.
00:43That's exciting.
00:43So, anyway, I texted a lot with Doc Pandia last night and he did something he's very almost never done before.
00:52When McCaffrey limps off, I know it all.
00:54I'm thinking the same thing all you are.
00:56Oh my God, he popped his damn Achilles.
00:59After all that.
01:00So, all I did was text Doc and go, Achilles?
01:04Question mark?
01:06For the first time in Doc's career, he does not text the answer back.
01:10He texts back and goes, bro, I'm out in the middle of nowhere driving with my family right now
01:15and I don't even know what the hell you're referring to.
01:19So, anyway.
01:20Sorry, Doc.
01:21Sorry.
01:22Sorry for bugging you and acting like sports is the only thing going on.
01:26So, anyway, he circles back, gets home, does all the video and we were texting more last night and more this morning.
01:34And there were two questions.
01:35One, like basically once the PCL thing kind of came out, he's like, here's all the different designations of a PCL and what Christian might be looking at.
01:44But then I asked him, I go, hey, what about this like social media video of the calf explosion thing that everybody kind of spotlighted?
01:55And what does that mean?
01:56Because doesn't that look like, it's just like the Aaron Rodgers thing.
01:59I go, doesn't that look like the Achilles or the calf exploded?
02:04He goes, well, he was decelerating, not accelerating.
02:09If you were accelerating, I'd say we got a problem.
02:13He's decelerating and therefore, if you actually spotlighted people decelerating as they're running in sports,
02:22you'd notice that that happens all the time.
02:25With the calf, the exploding calf.
02:26So that was like anybody who saw that last night and decided, ooh, that's a muscle popping.
02:32Nope, that's just a human being slowing down.
02:35Right, it's a muscle being activated to help you slow down.
02:37There you go.
02:38So no big deal.
02:39No big deal.
02:39Not part of it.
02:40Not part of it.
02:41And the big deal is that it is a PCL and I guess Channing has said today, no surgery, but he's going to be out at least four weeks, four to six weeks,
02:49which tells me that, you know, you get through four weeks, even if things go kind of well and you're sitting there at eight and eight,
02:56maybe after four weeks and you got a chance to win and get in, if he rushes back, then that becomes a more interesting thing.
03:03So Doc told me what the different grades of PCL are.
03:07And this is before Kyle said six weeks.
03:09He said if it's a grade one, two to four, if it's a grade two, six to eight.
03:15So my guess is it's a grade two.
03:17Or grade one and a half.
03:19If it's a grade three, it could be 12 to 16 weeks.
03:23But either way, I think we'll see Christian at OTAs.
03:28Yeah.
03:29Yeah.
03:29Probably not at the Pro Bowl.
03:32Not this year.
03:32Probably not.
03:33Yeah.
03:34Probably not.
03:34Well, maybe if he can rush his way back for the first playoff game and be available then.
03:39He won't be at the Pro Bowl because he might be getting ready for the Super Bowl.
03:42Exactly.
03:42So, I mean, they're allowed to go on a run and still make it, I believe.
03:45They aren't one of the teams listed with an E next to their name.
03:48Even though that list is now quietly growing.
03:51And for all the people who really want them to tank and run and draft,
03:56it's already too late for them to be bad enough for where that would be worth their while.
04:01They're not going to get a top five pick.
04:02There are already five teams with 10 losses, I believe.
04:05Patriots, 3-10.
04:07Jacksonville, 2-10.
04:09Raiders, 2-10.
04:10Giants, 2-10.
04:13That's it for 10 lost teams, but there's a bunch of nine lost teams, too.
04:17Panthers are 3-9 and the Jets are 3-9.
04:22Yeah, you're not getting a top five pick.
04:24Yeah.
04:25I mean, you could lose out if you want.
04:29Yeah, 5-12 might get you the seventh pick or the eighth pick.
04:32That's kind of where I'm at.
04:33Yeah.
04:33And this is another text here, Comcast Business Text Line.
04:36We really appreciate all of your engagement and you guys sending in these texts and listening to the show.
04:41This is the way I feel about it.
04:42That's why I read it.
04:43509 sends this in because it doesn't matter if you think they're not going to go anywhere
04:50because what we think is going to happen in sports often doesn't happen.
04:54I know a bunch of guys in my friend group last night were like,
04:57bet the under, bet the under.
04:59You can't even see the field.
05:01Bet the under.
05:02Well, y'all lost your money.
05:03So what we think is going to happen doesn't always happen.
05:08Fade the Dibbers coming up here in about two and a half hours.
05:10I wish I would have had a chance to pick that game.
05:12Well, you got the Packer win on our way to vacation.
05:19Big.
05:19Yeah.
05:20Big and get the Monday night game tonight.
05:21Are you 500 or 100?
05:23I think I'm still one below.
05:24One below?
05:24Yeah.
05:25There's no way I can be back to 500.
05:26Oh, so that means you're going to lose tonight big time.
05:28Anyway, the text is, if the math still works, you have to play your ass off until it doesn't.
05:36We've all watched enough sports to know crazy things happen.
05:41So that's where I'm at.
05:43It doesn't matter how frustrated we are.
05:47If there are still possibilities out there, you play because that's what you do.
05:53That's what you do.
05:54Don't put yourself in danger.
05:57But I would argue that it's something you said earlier.
06:00If Fred Warner was actually putting himself in danger, well, then that's a question for the 49er doctors six weeks ago.
06:07Right.
06:08Not now, but they decided then that he's not putting himself in danger, or at least significant danger.
06:16Right.
06:17Or else that would be malpractice for them to have put him out there when they did.
06:20You could have said grave danger, and I would have said, is there any other kind of danger from a few good men, of course?
06:26No, there isn't, actually.
06:28I don't think that any doctor would ever put any player out there if they were going to sustain a grave injury or grave danger.
06:35If the worst thing that could happen to Fred with this injury is for the fracture to get worse and he breaks his ankle, yeah, that could happen.
06:43And then look at the Christian McCaffrey situation.
06:45We all wanted to pitch count him and bubble wrap him with the two Achilles because we want to make sure those Achilles were fine.
06:52And then he goes out and hurts his knee.
06:54So just reminds you that no matter what you do with these football players, the chance of them getting hurt is very likely.
07:01Very, very.
07:01You said it before.
07:02It's 100% injury rate.
07:04And so if Fred can play through the pain, if he can take the needle and play, then play until you get to the point where you're eliminated.
07:12I really do want to see if in 10 days they're 7-7.
07:16I don't think that's crazy.
07:18I don't think it's crazy.
07:20I'm not saying it's likely and I'm not even saying that that earns you anything.
07:25But I am interested to see if they can get up off the mat because here's my number one observation from the road trip to Green Bay and Buffalo.
07:35You can talk about defense and offense and this X and O and that play call.
07:40Here's my number one observation.
07:42Look like a team whose morale is completely broken.
07:46Totally and completely broken.
07:49They did not believe themselves that they could go win those football games.
07:54Their shoulders were slumped.
07:56They were overwhelmed by who knows what.
07:58Whether it's Charverius, Trent, or anything else that the team may be facing.
08:02The absence of Purdy in Green Bay, Bosa, everything.
08:08Everything that happened around them.
08:09But that team's morale was completely and totally broken.
08:14And I would love to see if they can get it back.
08:18Because that's how morale works.
08:20It takes one action.
08:22One thing.
08:24It's the same way you feel every single payday.
08:27Your morale is about to be broken.
08:30And then suddenly the bank account fills and you're in a completely different mood.
08:35I wonder.
08:36I wonder if the 49ers can go find that thing that starts to rebuild them.
08:43And then who knows what happens next.
08:45Well it's a long way to go.
08:46It's a long uphill battle if you really want to get back and do something even remotely special.
08:51But yeah, the morale is part of it.
08:53I also think that it's hard to keep your morale up when the other team is just literally lining up and running the ball down your throat.
09:00Time and time again.
09:02And you go back to the Josh Jacobs performance for Green Bay.
09:05He did the same thing.
09:06And last night it was Cook and Brooks and Davis and more Davis and Cook and all these other guys.
09:13And just straight ahead.
09:15Straight down the middle.
09:16A-gap, B-gap, C-gap.
09:18Nothing tricky.
09:19Nothing fancy.
09:20Just we're going to run it and you can't stop us.
09:22And there's been so much of that.
09:24And so from a morale standpoint, it demoralizes you.
09:27And on the other side, the offense can't really seem to get Brock Purdy comfortable and get him going and get the offense clicking and humming.
09:35There's a drive here and a drive there.
09:37But the offense has not had in a long time now a good solid stretch of five or six or seven drives in a row where it's just boom.
09:46You can't stop us.
09:47We're humming.
09:48The offense is disjointed.
09:49The defense is getting gashed.
09:51So how can morale be anything but low?
09:53Agreed.
09:54Agreed.
09:54But get the opening kickoff and make it 7-0 against Chicago and start there.
10:02Start there and see what happens.
