00:00An event to tell about the commitment of the University of Milan-Bicocca to the elimination of violence against women.
00:10It is the Strip of Violence, Reflections and Actions of the University of Milan-Bicocca.
00:15On this occasion, two laurel awards were awarded to Sofia Castelli, the young student killed by her ex-boyfriend last year.
00:23The Reflections for Change campaign was then presented to encourage victims to ask for help
00:29and students and citizens were involved in the collective work of social art and remake of the artist Patrizia Benedetta Fratus.
00:37The central moment of the day was the announcement of the opening of the first Strip of Violence of the Ateneo,
00:42an important and strongly desired result also by the director Giovanna Gianantuoni.
00:47Femicide is the tip of a very big iceberg, which are all forms of economic, psychological discrimination that women suffer.
00:56The fact that, as I always comment with great alarm, is that in Italy only one woman out of two works,
01:03so it means that one woman out of two does not work.
01:05We have 40% of women who do not have an autonomous current account
01:09and this is where we have to start to make our female students and our students understand,
01:15even before arriving at the university, how important it is for a man to take care and love his partner,
01:23it means to make her free.
01:25And girls first, women must be aware that their freedom and their freedom of choice
01:32is really essential to be happy and sure of their future,
01:38to build their own future in autonomy and freedom.
01:41To listen to those who will address the Strip of Violence of the University of Milan-Bicocca,
01:46the experts of CADMI, home of the Women Abused in Milan,
01:50and the SWS Association, Woman Helps Woman ONLUS,
01:53as explained by Patrizia Seca, President of the Unique Guarantee Committee of Milan-Bicocca.
01:58The Strip is open not only to female students, but also to all workers of Milan-Bicocca,
02:04so to researchers, teachers, but also to all women who work as technical and administrative staff.
02:12Of course, there will also be an availability, because it is an open door,
02:16to welcome any women who live in the neighborhood and who come to know it.
02:23The opening of the door was not a very simple or immediate process,
02:29but we decided to rely on two very important realities, which are CADMI and SWS,
02:36which are two historical centers of Milanese reality,
02:41which have a very long experience on these issues, a wide training within their staff,
02:48and therefore, rather than improvising by dedicating our staff,
02:55we decided to involve staff who already work in these two centers.
