00:00The Philippine Coast Guard also distributed Christmas gift packs and grocery items to fishermen in the West Philippine Sea.
00:09The agency also reached out to their support for our fishermen.
00:13Belle Custodio is back.
00:17Mang Junjun is a native of Negros Oriental, but he chose to fish in the West Philippine Sea
00:23because he is more familiar with the catch of fish.
00:26But the catch of more Chinese ships in the West Philippine Sea is getting worse.
00:57In the past, they were able to fish in the Sabina Shoal.
01:00Now, it's dangerous.
01:12For more than a decade, Arnel became a witness to the catch of fish in the West Philippine Sea.
01:27But because of the concern of the Philippine Coast Guard,
01:30they now have more freedom to fish in the parts of the sea that they can no longer reach.
01:37It's a big help for us.
01:39If we are allowed to enter other areas with the Philippine Coast Guard,
01:44we will be able to enter.
01:46We are being encouraged to enter our area so we can catch good fish.
01:52For the Philippine Coast Guard, under the orders of our President, Marcos,
01:57and our Commander-in-Chief, Lonnie Hilcaban,
02:00we are ensuring that despite of our limited number of Coast Guard vests,
02:05in times of need for our Filipino fishermen,
02:09the presence of the Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources,
02:13and the Armed Forces of the Philippines,
02:17you can count on us to do everything we can
02:23to ensure that our Filipino fishermen are free to fish
02:29and we can help to counter the harassment of the Chinese government.
02:34This is the direction of our National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea
02:38to encourage more Filipino fishermen to fish in the West Philippine Sea
02:43because their wealth in the West Philippine Sea is for the Philippines.
02:47Now that December has entered,
02:49the PCG has added more Christmas gifts for the fishermen.
02:54The intention of the Commander-in-Chief is that every time we patrol the West Philippine Sea,
02:59not just in the Zulu Reef, but even in Bajo de Masinglo,
03:03because Christmas is coming,
03:06there will be gift packs, grocery items.
03:10At least we can give joy to the Filipino fishermen.
03:15We thank President Bongbong Marcos and the Philippine Coast Guard
03:19for their help and support to our fishermen.
03:22Merry Christmas!
03:24Vel Custodio, for Pambansang TV in the New Philippines.
