00:00Travellers saw it coming.
00:04We saw the issues in the system. Our members saw the issues in the system.
00:07We reported it, we were told it would be fixed, and it wasn't.
00:10So did bus drivers.
00:12Things like the system not recognising when they're at a bus stop.
00:16But Transport Canberra thought they were good to go.
00:19We believed that the system was ready.
00:21The Public Transport Association wasn't involved in the official six-week testing period,
00:26but says the problems were obvious.
00:28When you get on two buses a day for multiple weeks,
00:31and the same issues are arising week in, week out, day in, day out,
00:34you're realising these issues aren't being addressed.
00:37The government says the proof of the pudding needed to be in the eating.
00:41Well, there's clearly teething issues with the rollout of MyWay Plus,
00:45and it's only when you have 40,000 people using the new system
00:50that we have identified some of those issues.
00:54Transport Canberra says they've got 68 of the 70 light rail validators working,
00:58tweaks to bus technology should fix problems with tapping on and off,
01:02and an update to the app will fix QR code tickets.
01:05That'll go out this afternoon, this evening,
01:07and so we're hoping to monitor that in the morning,
01:09and hope that addresses the problem.
01:11The Canberra Liberals want an inquiry into the procurement of the $70 million system.
01:15There are commercial and confidence arrangements within those procurements
01:19that would make it difficult, I think, for an inquiry to overcome.
01:23It's not to say it would be impossible.
01:25The Greens will take that idea to the party room,
01:27while the two Independents will wait for the motion to be tabled.
