00:00Well I think the assisted dying bill is an incredibly complicated issue, it's a
00:05complex issue and I've heard the debate, I've read many pieces. I understand there
00:10are strong views on either side, I also understand there are many people who are
00:13undecided. I think it's really important to respect the views of people on other
00:18sides of the debate. You know, if I was a Member of Parliament I'd be voting
00:23against the assisted dying bill. That's not to say those who feel strongly in
00:27favour of it are wrong. I think it's right, the government's made this a free
00:31vote, so MPs aren't being whipped. I think it's right, it's a matter of
00:35conscience, but I've got real concerns in relation to the lack of palliative care
00:40available to those who are terminally unwell. I've got concerns about, let's say, the NHS,
00:45I've got concerns about the state of social care provision. I'm concerned not just
00:51about coercive control, I'm concerned about some of the guilt those who are
00:54terminally ill may well have. So look, for those reasons, I've had a vote against.
