A woman took a second job and spent all of her savings to help her dog walk again.

Dagmar Gudmundsson, 27, got her Maltese-mini poodle mix Tyrion seven years ago when he was just an eight weeks old.

Tyrion had been a healthy dog up until eight months ago when his legs suddenly stopped working.

The pup was quickly diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, which was attacking his spinal cord and left him paralysed.

Determined to help Tyrion, Dagmar did some research and discovered that physical therapy and acupuncture could help.

After spending £7.9k ($10k) on vet bills, Dagmar depleted the rest of her savings and took a second part-time job to cover the treatments.

00:00About eight months ago. My middle-aged dog went from this to this and it has been quite the journey
00:06So I wanted to share a little recap with you guys and hopefully provide some hope for anybody else who's going through this one night
00:12He woke up from a little nap on the couch. I noticed he was walking funny like this
00:15So we rushed him into the vet and within three to four hours. He had no function his back legs
00:22Everyone's first guess was IVDD, which is where a disc between his rotary bursts
00:26But it wasn't that they did an MRI to confirm it and a lot of blood tests and urine tests and all that
00:31Turns out he has an autoimmune disease that was attacking his spinal cord
00:34He was immediately given medication treatment to calm down the inflammation in his spinal cord and then he was in no pain, thankfully
00:41So at this point it was just a matter of us adjusting to paralyzed life
00:45They said there's a 99 plus percent chance. He'll forever be paralyzed
00:49So I didn't know what to do as you can see there were a lot of tears
00:51This has been a really emotional roller coaster
00:54But I knew that I would do whatever I could and whatever I could afford to do to give him the best quality of life
01:00Possible early on this process. I learned about spinal walking which some paralyzed dogs are capable of doing it's when they
01:06Unconsciously move their back legs and in order to get there. We did a ton of acupuncture
01:10We did physical therapy red light therapy hydrotherapy
01:14I mean, I really dedicated my life savings and a lot of my time to helping this dog
01:19That was the goal and as you can see there was progress you tickle his toes and he reacts his reflexes are firing and of
01:26Course there were ups and downs randomly. He got this huge scab on his back. That was super concerning
01:30I think it was a reaction to the chemo treatment
01:32So we stopped doing that and we continued with all the other therapies and hydrotherapy
01:37This was the first video I ever got of him trying to stand on his own and it was so emotional
01:42This happened back at the end of June
01:44So about four or five months after his paralysis and I thought wow, this is incredible and looking back
01:50I had no idea at the time how incredible it was just going to continue to be because progress
01:55The progress did not stop. In fact, the progress had was kind of slow
01:59I would say the first four to five months and then in the last
02:03Three or four months it has just taken off
02:07Astronomically and I can't wait to show you guys. So thank you so much to everyone who's been following along Tyrion's journey
02:12So come back for part two if you want to see Tyrion take his first steps since paralysis
02:42Oh
02:46Oh my god, I'm gonna freaking cry
03:00Wow Tyrion
03:03You're amazing
03:06You're amazing
03:09Oh my god
03:12You're taking steps
03:16Wow and a tail wag and a tail wag
