Sir Keir Starmer said the UK must "double down" it's support for Ukraine after returning from the G20 summit in Brazil. Addressing the House of Commons on Thursday, the prime minister said it "could not be more clear" that "this is a man that wants destruction, not peace".
"After 1,000 days of war, I am clear that we must double down in our support. We will not be deterred or distracted by reckless threats," he added.

00:00The G20 also coincided with a thousand days of conflict in Ukraine,
00:07and for the third year running, Putin did not attend. Instead, on the eve of the summit,
00:16he launched Russia's biggest attack for months, killing yet more innocent Ukrainians
00:22and hitting civilian energy infrastructure at the start of winter. And he indulged yet again
00:29in dangerous, irresponsible rhetoric. Mr Speaker, this is a member of the Security Council acting
00:38with contempt for the UN Charter. And while Brazil made finding solutions to hunger and poverty
00:46the focus of its presidency, in recent weeks Russian missiles have continued to rain down
00:54on civilian ships carrying grain bound for Africa. It could not be more clear.
01:02This is a man who wants destruction, not peace. And after a thousand days of war,
01:09a thousand days of Ukrainian bravery and sacrifice, I am clear that we must double down
01:16in our support. We will not be deterred or distracted by reckless threats. We have
01:22consistently said we will do what it takes to support Ukraine and put it in the best possible
01:29position going into the winter. The UK's support for Ukraine is always for self-defence. It is
01:38proportionate, coordinated and agile, and a response to Russia's own actions. And it is in
01:46accordance with international law. Russia could roll back their forces and end this war tomorrow.
01:55But until then, we will stand up for what we know is right,
01:59for Ukraine's security and for our own security.
