00:00The college football playoff rankings, the new edition are out right now, Joe, and we
00:07take a look at them.
00:08Number one, Oregon.
00:09No surprise.
00:10Ohio State, two.
00:11Texas, three.
00:12Penn State, four.
00:13Indiana, five.
00:14Notre Dame.
00:15Alabama.
00:16Miami.
00:17Ole Miss.
00:18Georgia.
00:19Tennessee.
00:20And Boise State in the top 12.
00:21From the standings, even all the way through the top 25, what was your opinion last night
00:24when these were released?
00:25I mean, the love, obviously the love for the Big Ten.
00:29I have no problem with that, Donnie.
00:31But I'm not sold on Ohio State being better than Texas.
00:35I just don't.
00:36I know they have one quality win, in my opinion, and that's over Penn State in Happy Valley.
00:40But I just think I would put Texas ahead of Ohio State in the love for Penn State.
00:45I mean, they don't really have a quality win on their resume.
00:49Like a top five win, like Texas does, or like Georgia, or like some of the others in terms
00:54of Ole Miss.
00:55And I know that those teams have multiple losses.
00:58But I mean, come on.
00:59I mean, the love.
01:00How could you have Penn State at four going up against Indiana?
01:05And I understand that Indiana will play Ohio State this weekend.
01:09But where is the respect?
01:10If you're going to give the Big Ten that much love to have an undefeated Hoosier team, how
01:14can't they be ranked ahead of the Penn State and Indy Lions, who have one loss and Indiana
01:20has none?
01:21It just makes no sense.
01:22Yeah.
01:23Yeah, I think in the past, we always got caught up in records, right?
01:26Like if you had one loss or zero losses, you automatically got placed typically if
01:29you're a power five team.
01:30Now, I think they're just taking a look at who should be the better team at this point.
01:34Maybe they're projecting Penn State to be the better team than Indiana.
01:37Let me ask you this question, though, because if we equate it to NFL, the Atlanta Falcons
01:41currently sit in first place in the NFC South.
01:43I'm like, hey, you know what?
01:44They're going to get a bye moving forward over, let's just say, the Detroit Lions, who
01:48clearly probably are the best team in the NFL.
01:51In college football, why was the need for the group of five to be ranked?
01:55Because I'm not knocking Boise State in a way, quality football team.
01:59We know they don't play the same schedules as the majority of the power five conference
02:02groups here that we have.
02:04But give me an idea of Boise State if they do lock in a bye.
02:08Is that fair?
02:09And should that go in moving forward?
02:12I think it is fair because it's a body of work for the group of five, right?
02:16We don't, we've never really equated them on the same level as the power four, the power
02:21five previously.
02:23So the fact that they would get a first round bye in that type of situation is deserving
02:28for winning your conference and being the highest ranked team.
02:31And we've seen these teams at least step up in terms of bowl type of situations, right?
02:37We've seen Tulane knock off, Tulane knocked off USC and Caleb Williams on New Year's Day
02:43years ago.
02:44Boise State knocked off Oklahoma.
02:45So they have, in terms of a one game type of situation, they are very competitive and
02:50can pull off the upset.
02:51And I think it's due to the fact that we want to give equal, you know, resume and we want
02:56to give an equal, you know, an equal bound to these group of five teams, meaning if you
03:04win out and you're deserving, you deserve to be treated just the way the other power
03:09four conferences are.
03:10I don't have a problem with that.
03:12I really don't.
