00:00In less than 24 hours, the group of people who were caught by the police

00:06were caught in an expensive battery that can run several appliances in one house.

00:11John Consulta was able to catch them.

00:18At around 7.12 p.m. when the CCTV caught the arrival of this red van

00:24in a place in Santo Tomas, Batangas.

00:26Five men went down and went straight to a telco box in the area.

00:30Within 10 minutes, the group was able to steal the lithium-ion batteries that they had left.

00:36The group moved to another barangay and walked far from the CCTV

00:41so that they would not be able to steal.

00:43They already knew what they were going to do.

00:45That box was locked.

00:47They used a grenade to open it and to get the lithium battery.

00:55In the follow-up operation of the police in Santo Tomas, Batangas,

00:58four out of five suspects were in a house in Quezon City

01:02for less than 24 hours.

01:04The thieves also recovered telco lithium-ion batteries

01:08that are not ordinary batteries.

01:10One battery of this can run the lights of a house

01:15and an air-conditioned unit.

01:18It's that strong.

01:19One battery is worth P50,000.

01:23Yes, and they sell it for P15,000.

01:26It's not just a telco that stole the batteries,

01:31but there are also batteries owned by telco companies.

01:37This is the van of the suspects that they used to steal.

01:40The CCTV was able to get the batteries of a telco in Santo Tomas, Batangas.

01:46According to the Santo Tomas Police,

01:48this van was only sold for three days.

01:52And according to their investigation,

01:54the suspects used four-wheeled vehicles

01:57so that their illegal activities would not be traced.

02:00Some of the arrested were hand-washed.

02:03We were just recognized.

02:05They told us that they will pick up the battery of the vehicle.

02:10I didn't know that the battery would be picked up like that.
