00:00I like Patrick a lot.
00:05I think he's a badass and what it is.
00:09It's the same thing, though, like what you talk about with Pittsburgh.
00:12Sullivan's a great coach, but what are they giving him to work with?
00:15And I think that that's what the that's what the islanders have become.
00:19You have a general manager who just really just brings the same team back every year.
00:26And it's it's become stale.
00:28And they lose the same ways and they do.
00:30I like Patrick Watt, too, as a head coach.
00:33But I just you know, you keep giving this the different coaches, the same players and
00:38the same players are giving you the same result.
00:41Eventually, the problem is maybe not the coach.
00:44The problem is you've got the same group.
00:47Why do you think Watt's happy at the horse track and on the island?
00:52Yes, because Watt was in Siberia before he was on the horse track and on Long Island.
00:57So he was banished for years from the NHL and the islanders let him back in.
01:02So I don't think that Patrick was looking to get away.
01:05But look, I I do think that eventually you've got to change the 80 year old general manager.
01:10I think that eventually that has to happen as as as decorated as he is.
01:17Eventually you have to do it and he gets full credit what him and Trotz did, bringing the
01:21islanders back to relevance, you know, because they were they were nothing franchise before
01:27those two guys got to retire.
01:31I think it's time.
01:32I think it's time for that.
01:34I just really do.
01:35And I'm sure he'll just going to hand over the keys to the kid, his son, Chris.
01:39I'm sure he's the one who's going to take over.
01:41But you need something fresh, somebody fresh at the race.
01:46I have lost a tremendous amount of sleep over the Boston Bruins sucking.
01:53And somebody asked me this weekend, why did the Bruins suck at the game?
01:56And I said, I think they started sucking when Bergeron retired, because I thought Bergeron
02:04was the key cog in the wheel.
02:06And I thought he was great with Marchand.
02:08And ever since that guy and I'll tell you another thing.
02:12They gave that swayman too many years.
02:15I don't give goalies eight year deals.
02:17I know the NHL loves giving eight year deals to goalies.
02:21Tell me a goalie in the last, like, honestly, in the last 20 years that's lasted eight years
02:26and all successful.
02:29They just don't last.
02:31There's two reasons for this.
02:32Number one, they don't last.
02:34And I love Sorokin, but even giving him eight years, I thought, you know, it's very hard
02:39to give the goalie eight years.
02:41And here's the second point.
02:43We've now seen it over the last, let's say, 10 to 15 years.
02:47How many times has the best goalie or one of the three best goalies in the league,
02:50won the Stanley Cup?
02:52It's not like the old days where the dominant goalie wins.
02:57It's now become, you can win with the Logan Thompson's and the Matt Murray's and all these
03:03guys playing golf.
03:04You can win.
03:05Matt Murray's like finished in the NHL, by the way.
