00:00I'm Tilda Swinton, and I'm a woman in Hollywood.
00:03Well, I'm not.
00:04I'm actually not, and I really can't say that.
00:06I'm Tilda Swinton.
00:07I wouldn't call myself a woman in Hollywood,
00:10but I'm a woman who goes there occasionally
00:12with a very small bag.
00:14An actress who's been there for me in my career,
00:17I would say is Frances McDormand, my friend,
00:20and now my new friend, Julianne Moore,
00:23for the same reason, because they are friends
00:26who give me to understand that I'm not alone.
00:30A Hollywood moment that sticks in my mind
00:33as being a really properly Hollywood moment,
00:35I was at an event, the Governor's Awards,
00:39which was the most prestigious,
00:42sort of South Park-type Hollywood event
00:45that I'd ever been to,
00:46and some of the people I admire most in the world
00:49and who have played a part in the growing
00:52of my cineastic passion were in the room.
00:55Maureen O'Hara and Hayao Miyazaki,
00:59two legendary heroes of mine.
01:02It was an out-of-body South Park sort of moment.
01:06A piece of advice that I would give myself
01:09on starting out in this industry,
01:11stick with your friends.
01:12Stick with the people who you feel comfortable with
01:16and you can trust and want you to show up as yourself
01:20and steer clear of anybody who doesn't.
01:23To make it in Hollywood,
01:25I would suggest junking the idea
01:29of ever making it in Hollywood
01:31and then have as good a time as you can.
01:34The first woman in the industry to open the door to me,
01:39although I'm still not clear what that door might be,
01:43but the first woman in the industry
01:46who really supported me in my ways
01:51was my first agent, Lorraine Hamilton,
01:54because she never gave any indication
01:59that I should do anything that I didn't wanna do
02:01and was incredibly enthusiastic
02:04about me just having as much of a good time as I could.
02:08The future of Hollywood is, as ever, perpetual evolution.
