00:00The future of Hollywood is...
00:02The future of Hollywood is...
00:05Yeah.
00:07You know, who knows what the future of Hollywood is?
00:09The future of Hollywood is letting more people into Hollywood.
00:14The future of Hollywood is women.
00:16LAUGHTER
00:25Advice I would give myself when I was first starting out was,
00:29are you sure? Are you sure? Because I was so young.
00:33To make it in Hollywood, blank.
00:35I would suggest junking the idea of ever making it in Hollywood.
00:42And then have as good a time as you can.
00:44When I first moved to New York City,
00:46it was very rare to encounter female directors or producers,
00:49but there really were a lot of women in casting.
00:52And they were the ones that saw you and auditioned you,
00:55so I would say it was them.
00:57I would say that the moment in my career...
01:02I would say the moment in my career...
01:06..that still amazes me.
01:09I really am so proud that I got to be in Greta Gerwig's first movie.
01:13Just the fact that, like, this is such a huge part of my life
01:16and it's my job, that's mad to me.
01:19The most difficult lesson I've learned in my career,
01:23which I'm actually really good at it,
01:25is the thing that you're incessantly trying to employ.
01:28It's patience.
01:30And add a little grace in that thing, too.
01:35In this industry, men can get away with almost anything,
01:39to be honest.
01:41More than they should be.
01:43I think even asking that question is, like, we all know...
01:47I mean, like, what's been happening the past however many years.
01:51Up until now, men can get away with ageing.
01:55I think it's important to acknowledge what we have accomplished.
01:59You know, where we came from and where we are today
02:02and just take in the changes for the better that have been happening.
02:05I need more light.
02:07I'm really dark. I'm like a dark vader.
02:11When other women see me on screen, I hope they see...
02:15When other women see me on screen,
02:18When other women see me on screen,
02:20I hope they see the dedication and love
02:24that I've put into my characters.
02:26When other women see me on screen,
02:29I hope they see themselves.
02:31The future of Hollywood is very much up to those
02:35who want to keep creating things that are different.
02:38The future of Hollywood is as ever.
02:42What was the question again?
03:12What was the question again?
03:42What was the question again?
03:44What was the question again?
