Tilda Swinton is one of Britain's most loved actresses and and was telling us at the BIF LUMINOUS Gala how much the BFI meant to her. She also had such a funny response to the fact she got a very long standing ovation at The Venice Film Festival for her recent role in brand new movie, The Room Next Door. Report by Jonesl. 00:00What does it mean to be in London at the Roundhouse representing the BFI?
00:04It's autumn, seemingly. I like it. It's like the turn of the season.
00:08It's not a long time though, because you spent a long time when you first started working for the BFI.
00:13BFI is like my school, and I'm literally in the school corridor right now.
00:18And all my old teachers are in there. That's what it feels like.
00:21I'm a huge, huge admirer, more than supporter. I mean, I just worship the BFI.
00:27What it's doing, what it's always done for filmmakers.
00:31What the BFI has always done is said, yeah, we like this project, but what we really want is the next five.
00:38So hang on in there. We'll give you a little bit of money to develop this one.
00:42But what we're really interested in is you and what you're going to do in 10 years time.
00:47I didn't know what you did. 17 minutes standing ovation. Do you ever get over that? That's incredible.
00:51I think it was 18 and a half.
00:54Was it amazing?
00:56Well deserved.
