00:00The Philippines and the United States signed an agreement that will speed up the exchange of classified military information.

00:06This will help, especially when it comes to the movement of China inside our territory.

00:17The agreement signed by Defense Secretary Gilbert Chodoro and U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin

00:23will allow the exchange of classified military information between the Philippines and the United States

00:28under the General Security of Military Information Agreement or GSOMIA.

00:33There will be not only a timely exchange of information, but also cooperation in defense technology.

00:39At the operational level, the exchange of information will be done here

00:43at the combined coordination center inside Camp Aguinaldo.

00:47Austin and Chodoro were the first to do the groundbreaking earlier.

00:50This center will enable real-time information sharing for a common operating picture.

00:57It will help boost interoperability for many, many years to come.

01:01And it will be a place where our forces can work side-by-side to respond to regional challenges.

01:11It's part of the strategic approach to facing our shared threats.

01:18This agreement has no expiration date, but it can be changed or suspended.

01:23It also does not force the sharing of information.

01:26It will just speed up the process of exchanging the information that is needed.

01:31This is a big thing for the security of the West Philippine Sea, according to security analyst Dean Domanhit.

01:37The Philippines can access real-time information, for example,

01:41on the movement of China inside our territory, which is a big challenge today because we don't have sufficient technology.

01:48Shared intelligence means they might be sharing satellite pictures,

01:53reports coming from technologies that we don't have here in this country.
