Vigils have been held across Australia for the women who have been killed this year in acts of gendered violence. Advocates say the number of deaths has risen this year, and they’re demanding more action from the government and the wider community to prevent domestic violence.

00:55Campaigners are calling for more government action to end domestic violence, including
00:59more work to change community attitudes, harsher penalties for perpetrators and better funding

01:06We're calling for change all across the board, at the judicial level, at the political level,
01:13particularly with how our leaders respond to our calls to action.
01:17Those gathered here are determined to ensure that the lives of those women aren't forgotten.
