00:00Together we've got to say enough is enough. We've got to say domestic violence must end and we've got to say yes, we have to encourage our respectful relationships.
00:14One of this year's focuses is on pets, animals. It has been identified that one of the big issues for families or victim survivors of domestic and family violence are their relationships with their pets.
00:28It is acknowledged that the relationship with a pet makes it incredibly hard for a victim or survivor to leave that relationship.
00:3670% of domestics involve animals, so this year one of the key focuses is about letting people know, letting these victim survivors know that if you need assistance and you have a pet, a loved one, pets are family too, if you need some assistance it is there for you.
00:55Domestic violence orders, a standard condition of a domestic violence order is the protection of a pet. They are a member of your immediate family and it is important that they, like the victims, like the children, are protected.
01:07We will continue to prioritise domestic and family violence. It is a NSW priority and it always will be.
01:16Conversely, moving forward, we will continue to make the promise that we will work with community, we will work with government and we will work with you all to ensure that we do our best to eliminate violence against victims, in particular women and children.
01:30Thank you folks, thank you for your time here, thank you to Rotary for their assistance in raising awareness about this very important issue and have a lovely day. Thank you.
