00:00Let's find out what the weather will be like after the landfall of the typhoon Ophel in Cagayan and the expected entry of the typhoon Pepito.
00:15We will be joined by Amol La Rosa of GMA Integrated News Weather Center. Amol.
00:23Thank you, Ms. Mel.
00:24In the middle of the typhoon Ophel, another typhoon hit our country.
00:31The typhoon Ophel reached the super typhoon category this morning.
00:35But just a few hours ago, it became a typhoon.
00:39Just yesterday, the typhoon Ophel landfalled in Bagao, Cagayan.
00:44The single number four was high in Babuyan Islands and also in the northern and eastern portions of mainland Cagayan.
00:52The single number three was in Batanes and also in the remaining part of Cagayan,
00:56the northern portion of Isabela, the northern portion of Apayaw, and also here in the northern portion of Ilocos Norte.
01:03In the areas below the signal number four and signal number three,
01:07strong winds are expected because of the effect of the typhoon Ophel.
01:13So be careful because you will experience strong gusts of wind.
01:19The signal number two was in the western and eastern portions of Isabela,
01:22also in the remaining part of Apayaw, Calinga, the northeastern portion of Abra,
01:28the eastern portion of Mountain Province, and also in the remaining part of Ilocos Norte.
01:33Below the signal number one, the remaining part of Isabela, Quirino,
01:38the northern portion of Nueva Vizcaya, the remaining part of Mountain Province,
01:43of Ifugao and Abra, also here in the northern portion of Binguet, Ilocos Sur, and also in the northern portion of Aurora.
01:51And last but not least, the typhoon Ophel was in the vicinity of Gonzaga, Cagayan.
01:57The strong winds reached 165 kilometers per hour and the gusts were up to 275 kilometers per hour.
02:07The typhoon is still very strong and it is moving west-northwest at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour.
02:13You can see here in the satellite image that the northern Luzon is almost covered.
02:19The forecast track of the typhoon Ophel is expected to pass here in the Luzon area.
02:25It will hit Babuyan Islands tonight where it is possible for it to landfall again or even close.
02:33It will also recurve to the right towards the eastern part of Taiwan by the weekend.
02:41It is possible for it to continue to weaken due to the interaction with the land and unfavorable conditions around the typhoon.
02:50As for the heavy rainfall outlook, we talked about the wind signal earlier.
02:55It is forecasted based on the strength of the wind.
02:57This is forecasted based on the strength of the rain.
03:00There will still be heavy rainfall until tomorrow.
03:03That will be in Maycagayan, Batanes, Ilocos Norte, and Isabela.
03:09While here in Abra, Calinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, and Aurora,
03:16the heavy rainfall will be felt until the strong rains.
03:22Based on the data of the Metro Weather,
03:24yesterday and tomorrow, there will still be heavy rainfall here in the northern Luzon and some parts of the central Luzon.
03:31The heavy rainfall will also be felt gradually.
03:35This will be due to the upcoming typhoon Pepito here in the eastern Visayas and also in some parts of the Bicol Region.
03:42We can also see some rainfalls here in some parts of Mindanao due to the localized thunderstorms.
03:51Here in Metro Manila, it is also possible to experience heavy rainfalls,
03:55especially when the sun sets in the afternoon or at night.
03:59According to the forecast, tonight, the Philippine Area of Responsibility is already inside.
04:05This is the typhoon that we call Pepito.
04:09It is moving west-southwest at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour.
04:14It is a bit different compared to the typhoons that have passed.
04:18The typhoon is moving west-southwest.
04:21According to the latest forecast track, the typhoon will move down first.
04:26It will slowly move up and approach the eastern part of Luzon or the eastern part of Visayas.
04:34In the eastern section of Luzon or in the Bicol Region,
04:38we can see that it will hit or landfall on Saturday or Sunday.
04:43However, we have a cone of probability.
04:47This is the highlighted part of our map where the central Luzon or the eastern Visayas will enter.
04:55This means that the typhoon may go down or even go up
05:00where we expect that there is a chance of landfall in the areas where this cone of probability is located.
05:07This typhoon will cross a large part of Luzon.
05:10If it continues to landfall here in the Bicol Region,
05:13it will pass through some parts of Calabar Zone and possibly reach Metro Manila.
05:19There is a chance that the typhoon track will change.
05:22A big factor in this is the strength or movement of the high-pressure area in Japan.
05:27If it pushes the typhoon further down,
05:31it will give way for it to move up a bit in its direction.
05:37And because it will be submerged in the sea for a long time before it reaches the ground,
05:41there is no doubt that it will become stronger and become a super typhoon.
05:48That is the latest in our time.
05:50I am Amorla Rosa. This is the GMA Integrated News Weather Center.
05:54Expect any time.
06:06Expect any time.
