00:00We will now update the weather. We have with us Amol La Rosa of the GMA Integrated News Weather Center. Amol.
00:15Thank you Ms. Mel.
00:16My fellow Filipinos, the Nika typhoon is no longer in the Philippines, but don't worry,
00:20because there are two more typhoons that could affect our country.
00:25At 3 a.m. earlier today, while the Philippine Area of Responsibility was inside,
00:29the Nika typhoon entered with another typhoon and we named it the Ophel typhoon.
00:35They stayed inside our PAR for a while, until around 2 p.m., the Nika typhoon left.
00:44The last typhoon to hit Ophel was 780 kilometers away.
00:48The wind speed was 95 kilometers per hour.
00:54The typhoon was 115 kilometers per hour.
00:59The typhoon moved west-northwest at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour.
01:04According to the latest forecast track,
01:06the typhoon could land or hit the east coast of Cagayan or Isabela on Wednesday afternoon or evening.
01:14It could also become a typhoon before it hits the ground.
01:18According to the Metro Weather,
01:20the chance of rain is still low tomorrow morning in almost the entire country.
01:24We can't see any colors on our map.
01:27But by this afternoon, there is a chance of rain here in the northern and some parts of Central Luzon,
01:34Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and some parts of Mindanao.
01:39There is still no high wind signal due to the typhoon Ophel,
01:43but there is a heavy rainfall outlook.
01:46From tomorrow afternoon to Thursday afternoon,
01:50we expect heavy to intense rainfall in Isabela.
01:56While here in Cagayan, Apayao, Abra, Calinga, Mountain Province, and Aurora,
02:01we will still experience moderate to heavy rains.
02:04Residents in the mentioned areas should be prepared
02:07because it has been several days since the last rain,
02:10and it is possible that the ground is already soft.
02:12There is also a chance of rain here in Metro Manila,
02:15especially in the afternoon and evening due to localized thunderstorms,
02:19and not because of the typhoon Ophel.
02:22Aside from the typhoon Ophel,
02:24we also monitored another typhoon outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility,
02:29the tropical storm with an international name, Mani.
02:33And when it enters the PAR, we will call it the typhoon Pepito.
02:38It is still far from now, but based on the initial outlook of the forecast,
02:42it is possible that it will approach the Bicol Region or the Eastern Visayas
02:47within this week.
02:49But it is still possible for it to change, so we will continue to monitor it.
02:53Meanwhile, Kapuso, if the next typhoon will come back,
02:57from the typhoon Christine to the typhoon Nika,
03:00almost all of them will hit or even stick to the northern Luzon.
03:06Even this new typhoon Ophel is also included in the possible typhoon Norte.
03:12Now, why are the typhoons moving like this?
03:15The forecast explains that there are no other weather systems,
03:19like this high-pressure area,
03:21that can influence the movement of typhoons that are affecting our country.
03:26It is far and almost in the same place.
03:29The high-pressure areas are too far,
03:31so there is no one blocking or pushing the typhoons down.
03:36Another reason for this is that there is no surge or wind gust.
03:40This is the cold and dry wind that does not correspond to the typhoon,
03:44so the tendency is to avoid where the wind gust is located.
03:48And when it comes to bermonds, it is usually in the southern Luzon
03:51or down in the Visayas or some parts of Mindanao,
03:55where the typhoons are mostly landfall.
03:57In Amihan, during this season, typhoons usually hit the northern Luzon,
04:03but since there is no typhoon yet,
04:05and the typhoon is still weak,
04:07there is no one stopping the typhoons to hit the northern part of our country.
04:13Now, why are there or why do we have a typhoon parade around the Philippines?
04:21This is because of the effect of the typhoon, according to the forecast.
04:24And when there is a typhoon,
04:26the Pacific Ocean area near the Philippines gets hotter.
04:31It is hotter and there is more moisture.
04:34And that is the main recipe for the typhoons to form and grow stronger.
04:40That is the latest in our weather.
04:42I am Amorla Rosa.
04:43This is the GMI Integrated News Weather Center.
04:46Expect any weather.
