00:00Did you sit your driving test here?
00:06Well, this former driving test centre could be converted into housing under plans being
00:10considered by the council.
00:12The redevelopment of Hillcrest House in Hare Hills could see it turned into 35 flats and
00:17studio apartments.
00:18The five-storey 1960s building was occupied by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency
00:24and used as a test centre up until September.
00:27A design report by Coda Architecture said the project would bring an outdated office
00:31block back into use and would represent a significant investment into the local area,
00:36with its redevelopment being a more sustainable approach than demolition and replacement.
00:41The development would consist of 20 one-bed flats along with four two-bed flats and 11
00:46studios on the corner of Hare Hills Lane and Lupton Avenue.
00:49The DVSA has said Fernville Leisure Centre on Oakwood Lane in Gipton is currently being
00:53used for driving tests with no loss of testing capacity.
