00:00Plans for a brand new safe, social and inclusive play area at Hayward House have been approved.
00:06The trust, which runs the iconic Grade 1 listed country house, will replace existing play
00:10equipment with a challenging and creative play space for accessible adventure and discovery.
00:16It's been designed by Touchwood Play and a planning officer said the proposal is considered
00:21to have given due regard to heritage assets and on-site landscape features, primarily
00:27the notable mature trees.
00:29The planning report says it will be a more sympathetically designed play area which is
00:33appropriate for the historic landscape setting within which it is based.
00:37It added that the limited extent of harm identified to the green belt is considered to be clearly
00:42outweighed by the benefits of the scheme, most notably the improved relationship to
00:47heritage assets, better relationship to the natural landscape and the significant improvements
00:52to accessibility.
00:54Construction is set to start in November and it's expected to be open by Spring 2025.
