The INEOS Grenadier is a bold new entry in the off-road vehicle market, designed to capture the spirit of the classic Land Rover Defender while incorporating modern engineering and technology. Conceived by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, chairman of INEOS, the Grenadier was born from a desire to create a no-nonsense, rugged vehicle capable of tackling the toughest terrains. With a starting price of around $76,000, the Grenadier offers a robust package that includes a BMW-sourced 3.0L inline-six turbocharged engine, delivering 282 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. This powertrain, combined with components from renowned manufacturers like ZF and BF Goodrich, ensures that the Grenadier is not only powerful but also reliable and capable of handling extreme conditions.

The Grenadier's design is a nod to the utilitarian aesthetics of its predecessors, featuring a boxy silhouette, high ground clearance, and iconic round headlights. Inside, the vehicle blends old-school charm with modern functionality, eschewing a traditional driver display for a central screen that keeps the driver's view unobstructed. The switchgear, inspired by aircraft cockpits, adds to the vehicle's unique character. Available in multiple trims, including the exclusive 1924 Edition, the Grenadier is built for customization, allowing owners to tailor it to their specific needs, whether for off-road adventures or everyday utility. With its combination of heritage-inspired design and cutting-edge engineering, the INEOS Grenadier is poised to become a favorite among off-road enthusiasts and Defender loyalists alike. Additionally, INEOS's deep involvement in F1 racing as a principal partner to the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team underscores the company's commitment to high performance and innovation.

00:00This is the Ineos Grenadier.
00:04You might know the Ineos name if you're an F1 fan.
00:08Ineos is the chemical company that provides all the fuel for F1 racing,
00:13founded by billionaire Jim Ratcliffe.
00:16When Ratcliffe first dreamed of this car,
00:19he did it at his favorite pub in London, the Grenadier.
00:23The Grenadier that we see today fulfills all those dreams that Ratcliffe had.
00:27It's boxy, it's large, and it can be accessorized to do anything and everything
00:32you want a true off-roader to do.
00:34Priced at about $76,000 for the entry-level model
00:38and mid-$80,000 for the 1924 edition,
00:42if you start to add all of those options and accessories,
00:45the price can go up to $100,000.
00:47Ratcliffe hired some of the greatest people in the automotive industry
00:51to build the Grenadier.
00:53BMW provides the turbo six-cylinder engine that powers this,
00:57and it generates 282 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque.
01:02Ineos also went to notable components makers ZF
01:07to provide a lot of the components, including the transmission.
01:10The exterior starts with BFGoodrich all-terrain tires
01:13that keep it at a lofty level.
01:15It has a really high ground clearance,
01:17and that's the way it can forward up to 41 inches of water.
01:20Also notable are the fog lights and the headlights.
01:23They're round and iconic.
01:25Starting the Ineos Grenadier is very old-school.
01:28You actually have to use a key.
01:36It's also very novel and very innovative.
01:39The look and feel of the front cabin
01:41is not really what you might have seen in other old-school SUVs.
01:45In fact, there's no driver display here.
01:47There's a tiny little screen here.
01:49This is a pedestrian or bicyclist horn,
01:54which is very different than the horn you might need
01:57to signal an oncoming car, which is much louder.
02:01There is a center screen.
02:03This is where you're going to find your speed
02:05and other driver feedback details.
02:08The reason this is over here and not in front of the driver
02:11is to keep the driver's view wide and open
02:14and unobstructed by screens or other things.
02:17The most iconic thing about the Ineos Grenadier, though,
02:20is all the switchgear.
02:22It starts at the command center here.
02:24It is on the center console here.
02:27And then it actually, like the cockpit of an airplane,
02:30is on the ceiling as well.
02:33The 1924 edition is notable
02:35for not only the partnership with Belstaff,
02:37but there are only 1,924 models built.
02:41Ours is number one of those 1,924.
02:45And inside, you'll see there are some key details
02:48that show us that it's the Belstaff edition.
02:51You can get rock rails that act as a running board
02:55for getting into the Ineos Grenadier.
02:58This is a tall car.
03:00It seats five passengers.
03:01The rear seat is very comfortable.
03:03And if you need to, these seats fold down
03:05for extra cargo space.
03:07On the rear of the Ineos Grenadier,
03:08there's a lot to see.
03:10There's a tow hitch.
03:11This can tow up to 7,700 pounds.
03:13There is a ladder on the rear door
03:15for accessing the roof rails.
03:17And then it is a dual-opening rear door.
03:20So it has this very iconic push-button door handle.
03:24And the small door opens for easy access
03:27to things in the cargo area.
03:29But if you need access to the entire cargo area,
03:32it's really easy to just pull it open,
03:35and it opens nice and wide.
03:37The Grenadier is available in four different trims.
03:40Right now, there is the Station Wagon,
03:42the Fieldmaster, the Quartermaster,
03:44which is a pickup truck,
03:46and this one, the 1924 Edition.
03:49With the huge secondary market that there's been
03:51for Land Rover Defenders,
03:52it's not a surprise that someone came up
03:54with something like the Grenadier.
03:56It is everything that you imagine
03:58that the Land Rover Defender was and could be,
04:01and then so much more.
04:03The cockpit style, switch gear,
04:05the ruggedness and all its capability
04:08makes it truly a bucket list car.
