The Genesis GV80 rolls into the 2025 model year with a mild facelift, new wheels, fresh colors, and a slew of interior enhancements to make this mid-size luxury crossover even more appealing. Starting with the exterior, the automaker has meticulously re-sculpted the front fascia and fine-tuned the Genesis signature diamond-crest front grille. The G-Matrix façade now boasts the company's latest MLA (Micro Lens Array) technology for headlight illumination—smaller, lighter, and more efficient than last year's offering. The emblem has been carefully tweaked with more texture, adding to the vehicle's overall aesthetic appeal. A closer look reveals more oversized front air intakes and the lower skid plate has been cosmetically enhanced with a silver-tone.
Opening the doors reveals the more significant year-over-year improvements—and a passenger cabin more opulent than that found in a Gulfstream private jet. An expansive 27-inch OLED screen is now used to display the instrument cluster and infotainment screen—everything is controlled by a new rotary controller conveniently mounted on the center console. The two-spoke steering wheel has grown an extra spoke—the objective was to optimize ergonomics, says the automaker. Genesis designers have also reworked some of the minute details to bring the cabin even more upmarket.
Under the tested 2025 Genesis GV80 3.5T Prestige AWD hood is a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 rated at 375 horsepower. Mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, it propels the 4,100-lb crossover from a standstill to 60 mph in about 5.5 seconds.

00:00This is the 2024 Genesis GV80.
00:08Genesis is the luxury offshoot from Hyundai.
00:11It started about a decade ago as the top trim in the Hyundai lineup,
00:16and then it was broken off as its own luxury brand.
00:20In the early days, in order to test drive or buy a Genesis,
00:23they would come to you to deliver a car to test drive,
00:26to deliver paperwork, and then even pick it up for service appointments.
00:30But now the brand has grown so much, there are 35 freestanding showrooms.
00:35When the GV80 was introduced, it represented brand new design language for Genesis.
00:40The daytime running lights that wrap around, the front corners, the tail lights that mirror,
00:45the interior details, all of that was very iconic to the new Genesis design language
00:51and first seen in the GV80.
00:53Well, for 2024, the GV80 got a little bit of an update.
00:57What they didn't do was really reinvent the wheel.
01:01What they did do was they added a new mesh grille and a lot of great new technology.
01:08One of the biggest changes for 2024 is the single-pane glass
01:12that incorporates the multimedia system and the driver display.
01:16There are buttons on the steering wheel that will allow you to change that,
01:20and then the multimedia system here.
01:22So just by tapping this screen, you'll get a toolbar here,
01:26and then you'll have these options.
01:29Most of the features here are what we had before,
01:32but here's the big news for 2024, and that is the Mood Curator.
01:37And this combines music, a graphic, they show light, and then fragrance.
01:42But I'm going to pick Delight and tap Start, and then a show begins.
01:49And it's worth listening to the sound,
01:52because you'll actually be able to hear this high-quality sound.
02:04The audio system is a premium audio from Bang & Olufsen,
02:07and it's designed specifically for this car.
02:11This is all new as well, this climate panel that's touch-sensitive,
02:15and you actually get a little bit of haptic feedback.
02:18And then we have this, and this is a fingerprint or biometric control.
02:24So you can set up your biometrics for the system to recognize your fingerprint,
02:30or you can actually turn on the car.
02:32And then over here is our Drive Mode Selector.
02:35And when you put it into Sport Mode, it automatically adjusts the driver's seat
02:39for a little more bolstering and a little more support for that sporty drive experience.
02:45The model we're test-driving is the 3.5T Prestige Edition, which is the top of the line.
02:52The GV80 starts at about $59,000.
02:55This model starts at $79,000, and it's really fully loaded.
03:00There's one option on our test model, and that is the metallic deep green color,
03:06and that is a $695 edition.
03:09What do you get for $79,000?
03:11This is why fans really love this car.
03:14You have incredible detail throughout, from Nappa leather and micro-suede headliner
03:20to rear seat amenities that include heated and vented seats and the electric sunshades on the windows.
03:27And then, of course, it has new technology inside.
03:30Not only the multimedia screen and the new climate panel, but it has true Level 2 hands-free driving.
03:37So this is a technology you're not going to see in every car,
03:41but as a true luxury car, you will see it in the Genesis GV80.
03:44The GV80 is really popular among people who want a luxury SUV.
03:50Yes, it's a family car, but it's also popular for couples, for people who just love a large SUV
03:56with that high ground clearance and great visibility and top-tier technology.
04:01The GV80 comes in two different engine options.
04:04They're both six-cylinder.
04:06This is a twin-turbo with 375 horsepower.
04:09The other one has 300 horsepower.
04:12Either is ample amount of power for an SUV this size.
04:16But I will say, after spending a week in this car, having 375 horsepower underfoot is really nice.
