00:00On November 12th, 1976, Renée McRae and her three-year-old son Andrew left their Inverness
00:08home. Later that night, Renée's burning BMW was discovered in a lay-by near Dalmagary,
00:13but they were nowhere to be found. As police investigated, they uncovered Renée's secret
00:20relationship with William McDowell, her estranged husband's accountant and Andrew's biological
00:26father. Suspicion fell on McDowell, but despite extensive searches, a blood-stained rug in
00:32the car remained the only clue. In 2019, police revisited Leenich Quarry, where they found
00:38wheels from a pram, similar to the ones Andrew had. Later that year, William McDowell was
00:46charged with Renée and Andrew's murders. In September 2022, he was found guilty and
00:52sentenced to life, but passed away in early 2023 without revealing the body's location.
00:59Today, detectives continue their search, hoping to finally bring closure to the families involved
01:05in this haunting mystery.
