00:00How are you? I'm great, how are you? Tell me about this Wicked outfit.
00:03It was like, I think I was just channeling Garden of Oz, you know? I'm just, I'm feeling
00:09a little bit of the Glinda Rose vibe. When was the first time you saw Wicked?
00:13Oh my gosh, I think over like maybe 10 years ago was the first musical that I just was like
00:18sobbing and it felt queer even though it isn't and like. It's queer, it's queer,
00:24and first of all musicals are queer period. Representation and so I've just always been
00:28a huge fan and I've worked with John Chu and supporting Mark Platt Productions,
00:33so I'm just super happy to be here. What was it that, where did you,
00:38why did it resonate with you? What was the queerness in it that you?
00:42I think being from a marginalized community and feeling like an outcast, right? We can,
00:49a lot of us can relate to feeling other and so I think the hopeful theme of endless possibilities
00:56and for me as a queer woman of color, musician, director, I like to think that anything is
01:02possible and I think that's why I resonate with the theme of Wicked so much.
01:06Favorite, favorite Wicked song? Defying Gravity, it's tough.
01:10Okay, hit the note, go, go. I can't compete with Cynthia,
01:15are you kidding? This is her moment, not mine, but I hope you get one of those tonight.
01:22Let's talk about being queer in America post-election, how are you feeling?
01:28Feeling not great, but also hopeful knowing that I have our community, I feel more invigorated
01:34than ever to be surrounded and uplift my community and continue to dream and to create art and support
01:42one another more than anything and I, you know, that's been my whole life and no matter what's
01:47happening in the political climate, I will always be there for my community and will always try to
01:52help organize and uplift one another because it is scary out there and we need each other and we
01:57need hope and hope is the most important thing and we will survive, we will get through this even
02:01though it's very scary. What do you say to queer youth out there who woke up after the election
02:06and are scared? That we love you, that there are over 70 million people who love you and support
02:13you for who you are and to hopefully know that we're never going to go anywhere,
02:19that you're never alone and I think that's the most important thing.
