00:00The movie's incredible.
00:02You're in Wicked.
00:04I'm in Wicked, baby.
00:06Tell me about the phone call or the text message.
00:09How did you find out you had been cast in Wicked?
00:12The Zoom call, it was 8 a.m. here in L.A.
00:16because John was already in the U.K.
00:18They told me it was a callback.
00:20They did not tell me it was them telling me
00:22that I got the part.
00:24And it was John pretending to answer the door.
00:28Little did I know, behind the door was Ari and Cynthia
00:32with a sign that says,
00:33welcome to Oz, will you be our Nessa Rose?
00:36This is in person?
00:38Okay, go over Zoom.
00:39Okay.
00:40If it was in person, I think I might've passed away.
00:42Yeah.
00:43So you didn't pass away, obviously.
00:46What was your, did you scream?
00:48What do you do?
00:49It's Wicked.
00:51Shock, shock for sure.
00:53I think I was very much a deer in headlights.
00:56And then I hung up on that call
00:58and immediately called my parents sobbing my eyes out.
01:02What was the most challenging part of being in the movie?
01:05What was the most challenging day to shoot?
01:08Challenging?
01:10The night shoots?
01:12Because I'm always cold and it gets colder at night, yes.
01:17What was your most fun day on set?
01:19Fun day, probably the Ozdust ballroom scene
01:23because that's like the big number
01:25and I was, me and Ethan rehearsed so long for that.
01:28And then my dad actually was there for that
01:31to see it be filmed, which was really special.
01:34Did your dad cry?
01:36We had a moment for sure.
01:37Is he a crier?
01:38He's definitely a crier for sure.
01:42I forgot to bring tissues for tonight
01:44because he's seeing it for the first time tonight, but.
01:47I feel like if you ask someone from the studio
01:49to get you tissues, they're gonna get you tissues.
01:52Somebody around here definitely has a tissue or two
01:54for sure.
01:55Do you have a favorite Easter egg that's in the movie
01:58that's either something from the original Broadway show
02:01or Wizard of Oz, what's your favorite Easter egg?
02:04Well, an Easter egg that I caught on the second time
02:08watching the film, very briefly,
02:10and this is on brand for me as well,
02:12you see a pair of ruby slippers in Galinda's dorm room.
02:16Yeah, very briefly.
02:19So you didn't see that while you were filming
02:22or seeing it?
02:23Not while I was filming
02:25and not the first watch through either, yeah.
02:28So I wonder tonight when you see it,
02:30what are you gonna catch tonight that you haven't seen yet?
02:33I know, my eyes will be peeled, that's for sure.
02:35I love when you can watch a movie again
02:37and catch like little tidbits.
02:40Let's talk about representation in the movie.
02:42You're gonna hear from kids who are gonna say to you,
02:45which they've already done, but when they see this movie,
02:48they're gonna be saying to you, thank you, thank you.
02:50What does that feel like?
02:54It means absolutely everything to me.
02:57It brings me so much joy.
02:59A little bit of, a lot of emotion that I'm here now
03:05coming from such a small town
03:07and just not very few disabled people from where I'm from.
03:12So to see, have people see myself on stage
03:16or see me on stage, it just, it means so much to me, so much.
03:21Talk to your little self.
03:24When you're in your little town,
03:26you are having these dreams.
03:28What would you say to her now?
03:30I would say, root for yourself always.
03:35Ask for accommodations.
03:37You are never asking for too much
03:38when you're asking for accommodations
03:40because it's what you deserve.
03:41And follow that dream.
03:43You don't know where it's gonna lead you.
03:45They made you a trailer.
03:47That's what it, yeah, they built you a trailer
03:49because there was only one accessible trailer in the UK.
03:54How incredible is that?
03:56So incredible.
03:57And I have to give so much credit to Chantel
04:00who was the disability advisor on Wicked
04:02who is also in a wheelchair.
04:04And thankfully to the team of Universal,
04:06they were thoughtful enough to hire disability advisors
04:09so everything went smoothly and so that I was comfortable.
04:13So shout out to her for helping coordinate
04:15and giving suggestions on how to make the trailer accessible.
04:18Last question.
04:20This is the Wicked cinematic universe.
04:23If you get your own Wicked movie,
04:25do you have the story already in your head?
04:28I think a fun Nessa spinoff.
04:30I think a Nessa spinoff would be fun for sure.
04:33Is it a movie or is it a limited series on Peacock?
04:37It's a three-part series, baby.
04:39What do you mean?
04:40She's getting a whole series.
