The Union in Colne has undergone a major revamp, with extensive renovations to modernize the venue and enhance its appeal to both locals and visitors.

00:00I was contacted by Punch Pubs and they'd asked me if I'd be interested in coming to look at the union,
00:09to go into partnership. I've always enjoyed coming to Cone. I think Cone's a fantastic place,
00:17it's got a great circuit for drinkers and a fantastic nightlife. So we sat down, we had a chat,
00:24and it was really good really because we both agreed that the union is a fundamental part of the community
00:34and has been here for many, many years. We wanted to recreate what it was, and that was a community pub
00:43where we could reach out to everybody in the community. So we've got sports, we're big on sports,
00:50football, Formula One, rugby, and also we've got quiet areas for people just to come and have a drink.
00:57So we felt, let's recreate that, and that's what we've done. So it's had a massive refurbishment
01:04and it looks absolutely great. We've got loads of stuff going on as well.
01:08I believe you've got a Yuletide Christmas market?
01:12Yeah, that's right. We were contacted by a local charity called Worldies,
01:18and they wanted to hold a Christmas market here. So we're doing that on the 1st December,
01:25where both rooms will have stalls for people to come and enjoy and have a look around and enjoy a drink whilst they're here.
01:34And in the new year, I believe you'll be introducing a few bands?
01:37Yeah, we're going in from probably just beginning of February, we're going once a month,
01:42we're going to be putting on bands on a varied part of the week, probably Friday nights, Saturday nights and a Sunday afternoon.
01:50Places like The Union, who have been part of the community for many, many years,
01:56they offer such a great support network for the community to come and meet you for drinks,
02:03be it your lads playing pool, darts, watching sport or just coming to have a drink.
02:10Great environment, background music, and for those who don't really have anything to do at night,
02:16they can come here during the week where we've got a really good what's on package.
02:21So we've got karaoke, we've got quizzes, bingo, where you can come on certain days of the week, enjoy a drink,
02:28have a good time, let your hair down and just forget about life.
02:32And it's places like this that are so important and that's why when I was asked to come and do it,
02:41The Union, being in Cone and being what it was, was a really good challenge and I'm really enjoying it.
02:48I've been here for five weeks now and it's been great.
