00:08 Pubs have been a cornerstone of our local communities for centuries,
00:11 offering a place for people to meet together and socialise,
00:14 as well as providing thousands of jobs and a cornerstone of the local economy.
00:18 Here we go behind the bar to meet the people who run our pubs
00:21 and say why it's important for you to love your pub.
00:24 Could you introduce yourselves?
00:25 I'm Diane. I'm Jill. We're the manager of the Crown & Cushion.
00:30 How long have you been here?
00:32 We've been in the Crown & Cushion since September last year.
00:37 Have you worked anywhere else? How long have you been in the industry?
00:40 I've been in the industry 30 years.
00:42 And I've been in it about 30 years on and off.
00:45 Any other pubs you've been in locally?
00:47 Not locally. Not locally.
00:49 Last pub we had was a horse and jockey and stuff pub.
00:52 Do you know anything about the pub, any history?
00:55 What, this one?
00:58 This one, it's like, we call it Joplin's before the Crown & Cushion.
01:03 It's a swingers place.
01:06 Two and sixpence on the bottom of the shoe, etc.
01:10 What's the favourite drink at the moment?
01:12 Fosters and John Smith's.
01:16 What other beers do you have, or what drink?
01:19 Cruz Campo, Guinness, Truffle Dark, Beer Meretic.
01:26 Gins, Vodka, Brandy, Southern Comfort.
01:35 Just your normal, what any pub would sell.
01:37 Your Corky's, your Sambuca.
01:40 What do you think makes this pub different?
01:44 I think it's the management, to be fair.
01:46 The humour, that we have a band to ourselves and the customers we get on.
01:54 And they keep coming back because they like it.
01:57 It's a meeting place, it always has been for the regulars.
02:01 Have you got any events planned at the pub?
02:03 We've got live entertainers coming, we do karaoke, we do a lot.
02:09 Loud and Proud night, we do Open Mic night.
02:12 Have there been any fun moments you can remember since you took over?
02:18 It's just been all work, work, work.
02:21 We have a laugh.
02:23 We have a laugh with our workmates, our team.
02:26 It's a good team, good strong team.
02:30 We have a laugh with our punters, our customers.
02:35 And just chatting along, we've got raffles going and we're all mucking in.
02:41 So yeah, it should be a good year this year, right?
