00:00As the world reacts to the news that Donald Trump will be president again, people online
00:04have a lot to say. Social media feeds are full of upset, angry Democrats voicing their
00:09opinions on how Trump managed to claim victory. And one person that users seem to be blaming
00:14is none other than George Clooney. Confused? Let me explain. Clooney has long been both
00:20a supporter of the Democratic Party and an outspoken critic of Donald Trump. However,
00:24in the summer after witnessing Biden's questionable behaviour first hand, the actor wrote an article
00:32for the New York Times calling for a new Democrat nominee. Eleven days later, President Biden
00:37dropped out of the race. He was then replaced with Kamala Harris, who had just 107 days
00:42to run a campaign. And now, since Trump's win, people have criticised Clooney online,
00:47saying this is all his fault. They argue that Biden would have appealed to the white working
00:51class voter and that Kamala Harris didn't have long enough to build her campaign. But
00:55it wasn't just Clooney who called for Biden to step down, so arguably it's unfair that
00:59he's getting all the blame. Figures including Barbara Streisand and Nancy Pelosi also supported
01:04the move. So it's ultimately unlikely that Clooney's article was the reason why more
01:09than 72 million Americans voted for Trump, but it's an easy way for Democrats to explain
01:14his win.
